64 players on the TG server -- amazing...

Wow. I played BF1942 and JO with massive amounts of players... it just never felt organized at ALL.

Now, while 64 players does inevitably introduce a feeling of chaos, it felt more controlled than anything of that size I've ever experienced. I was on a squad (lead one at times) and we were effective.

SOMEBODY GET RESERVED SLOTS WORKING! We're going to need them!

Oh, and I recruited all to HELL, so I hope we get some new friends from today's adventures!

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Root: Welcome to TG. Feel free to punctuate your sentences correctly. Monkerz: Its gonna take all my skills to beat those boys off in the future.

Oh.. and with 64 players, the average ping never dropped below 60.

Whatever box this server is on now, LEAVE IT THERE.

Yeah, it's bad when us admins can't get on the server. :-)

It may have not seemed like chaos but try commanding half a team. It was ridiculous deathmatching IMO. I must have typed join a squad 15 times. Command, forget it.

This is just the beginning Vulcan. Right now, most players don't even know what a squad is. Everyone and their mother is getting the demo, but only more serious players will get the full game.

Also, as we get more regulars, things will improve dramatically. And admins will help shape things up as well.

So, it's not all doom and gloom. It's just a demo after all.

I agree tempus, just frustrating when you see the power of the game but it looks like a warped version of public CS. lol

Re: 64 players on the TG server -- amazing...

I am... NOT enjoying BF2 with 64 people. The only really great games I've played were with 7 men on each side. Mom was the squad leader and Omega/Zephyr commanded. Some truly great moments, and it was really good. Communication was flowing really well. Now, while it gets epic, its also just... not that fun.

Re: 64 players on the TG server -- amazing...

I felt that way about JO. I don't know why I feel differently about BF2.

Zephyr was leading my squad earlier (and quite capably, I might add). He was voicing his best efforts to keep up with the commands Vulcan was giving him, while simultaneously performing the CAT HERDING that is early-demo squad-leading.

Tempus is right -- it's still early. I'm excited about the POTENTIAL I see in this game more than anything else.

Re: 64 players on the TG server -- amazing...

Cat herding...more like sheep herding if you ask me. Some of these guys didnt know left from right and I was a bloody MEDIC LEADING THE TEAM INTO A FIREFIGHT. Yeah it takes a certain degree of insanity and ferocious anger at the opposing team (as well as your own) to move a squad efficently. When all else fails, shout. Its amazing what people do when the person who can bring them back to life as well as let them spawn in nearby says NO YOU WILL NOT GET A REVIVE IF YOU DONT LISTEN YOU NUBCAKE! Then I proceed to hold down V (for Vulcan!) and yell at him until I see artillery/supplies/uav falling in on my target. Sorry Vulcan you know I love you but I was very pumped.

I find a problem constantly occuring on the servers and I have a metaphor for this.

Imagine you are playing CS:S and you are a terrorist on a de map. So you have your bomber and he has been blessed with magical powers of l33tness to let you spawn in around him. Then, because its such a good strategy, rather than following the line on the map you let HIM LEAD YOU INTO A FIREFIGHT AND HE GETS KILLED, RUINING YOUR CHANCES OF L33T RESPAWN AND THEN YOU BLAME HIM?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?oneoneshiftslashquestionmarkones hiftone

I hope you all understand the metaphor for Battlefield 2 in here. If not go stick the F-35 where the sun dont shine.

I think wyzcrack is satisfied because he was doing a terrific job at leading his squad, I know because I was on it. He must have been communicating well with the commander as well. Also when I was on yer mom's squad we had a good time. I think that it’s all about able commander and squad leaders to march their armies to victory.

I had the pleasure of being under both Wyz and Yer Mom, and both were exceptional leaders. The game needs more players like them to lead squads, makes it much more fun.
