Re: Command, orders, and communication

If you've ever read/seen Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, you'll know what I mean when I say TG could really use the "point of view" gun. But then again, what fun is life if there is no opposing force to fight? :P

Re: Command, orders, and communication

I just want to remind all squad leaders. If you do not confirm your captain's orders, your squad members will not see said orders.

Also, if you commander is not issuing orders at all, make sure your squad members have something to do, so give them orders of some sort, even if it is just to defend an objective.

This is pretty important, it lets your squad know you're not just sitting there twiddling thumbs. During the middle of a game, if I don't get orders from the commander, I will generally just tell my squad to sit tight and secure the position while we wait for new orders. Amazingly, I haven't had anyone run off to lone gun it yet; people have been content to stay with the unit.

I started doing this last night, too. It worked better than anything else I've yet tried.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Root: Welcome to TG. Feel free to punctuate your sentences correctly. Monkerz: Its gonna take all my skills to beat those boys off in the future.

Strength in numbers. I think this game is finally breaking the barrier, to some extent, on the "run-n-gun" mentality. Of course, making this pronouncement after playing the demo is probably a little premature, but I think we're seeing people actually realize if they go off on their own, they'll be "owned".

Of course, TG has always promoted teamwork, but it's highly unusual (in my opinion, of course) to see such cooperation from the pubbies.

Re: Command, orders, and communication

I've long held that most (that is to say, more than don't) pubbies want teamplay but are too fatigued or ignorant to manage it.

In seeing TG regulars exhibit it, it emboldens them.

BF2 makes it all to easy for us to exhibit it.
