Last night flux and I were on this squad that had the best team player I had ever seen. He was the squad leader. I didn't recognize the name but thought he had to be an old GR or NS player. He was phenominal in the squad leader role. I asked him if he was from TG and he said "who?". I hope he checks out our site.

BTW... since players really can't change their player name for the game... is there a buddy system or some way to look up players? There were a few I'd want to invite over the TG.

That's great, but what happens when paying TG members can't get in (like me)? I'm all for pimping TG (in fact, I already hold the patent!), but when enthusiasm for the game means I can't play, I get pissed off.

Reserved slots should be forthcoming. They were available for BF1942; there's no reason to believe they won't be incorporated into BF2. As it stands, we're three days into the DEMO, people... asking for more than a server seems pretty ludicrous.

I'm not. I'm saying that, in the grand scheme of things, it's great to PIMP TG to the fullest, but PIMPing TG and not having space for paying members is lose/lose.

It's hard to make an argument for supporting membership if you can't get a slot on the hot game, and it's even more difficult to convince someone to pay if they know that paying members can't get into the server.

The admin tools for BF1942 allowed for reserved slots. We'll get them up as soon as they are available. It's really bad when supporting member admins can't get in the game.

I don't think you get the idea of pimping TG then, Mateo. Right now, the TG server is one of a bazillion demo servers out there; the pimping comes when you connect the server and its gameplay to the community.

It's not about securing memberships; rather, it's about making sure that the people who are now stumbling upon TG because it's the lowest ping on their server browser know that TG has more to offer, like other games and a community that's second to none. Paying members not being able to get on the server at present is a non-issue for this pimpage.

If you read what I (and everyone else) wrote, no one has said anything akin to "iniviting the rabble".

We DO offer more than low ping, but at this point in the BF2 lifecycle, that's what got people to our doorstep. We don't recruit on that. We point out to the players we feel would be a good fit in the community that we HAVE a community.

And again, paying members not getting on the server three days into the DEMO is a nonissue for this recruitment. I agree that it's an issue in the grand scheme, but it has nothing to do with the present discussion.

Pimping -- at least MY pimping, three days into the demo (and really ANYTIME we're talking about dealing with STRANGERS), does not have supporting members in mind AT ALL. As Poker said, my goal is simply to get people to realize WHERE they are and HOW to get here AGAIN. Baby steps. Get them here. Get them playing on our server every night for two weeks.

They'll decide, alone, if they want a SUPPORTING MEMBERSHIP. If they play here for two weeks and I'm constantly in THEIR face about getting a supporting membership like I am in a STRANGER'S face about getting a URL, it's just going to piss them off. I find that, once a player is here, the gameplay (heh -- nevermind the full server -- yes, reserved slots will happen) pimps the supporting memberships all too well. It's when they're strangers that they need constant reminders to join us.

Players don't mind being told to come back. In my experience, they're not so receptive to being so passionately asked by a third party how to spend their money.

Yes, Custom, I want binds. I don't know how to bind in BF2 and fear it won't be possible. Binding is so valuable from a pimping standpoint.

Mateo, I feel your pain on the reserved slots. I've ordered Apophis to make it so.
