Doesn't your minimap already do that?

Re: What do you think should be improved for the final version?

I would like a voicecomm key for talking to people with whom I'm sharing a vehicle.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Root: Welcome to TG. Feel free to punctuate your sentences correctly. Monkerz: Its gonna take all my skills to beat those boys off in the future.

I'd like to see who was in the vehicle with me!

How many voicecomm keys do you want????

Seriously, JointOps had so many different text chat features, that nobody ever used them so they were almost completely ineffective. Global chat, All chat, team chat, squad chat, local chat, chat with your mom chat, etc...

I think there's something to be said for simplicity.

Re: What do you think should be improved for the final version?

It's the 21st century.

Text is dead.

oh, the irony...

Voicecomm wouldn't suffer from the same problem. As it stands now, I have no reliable method by which to quickly and effectively tell my vehicle's driver, who is in another squad, what my transport needs are.

I've got 100+ keys. Use them already.

It shows what direction your guy is facing via arrows, but as far as I know it doesn't give N-S-E-W directions (unless I'm blind and just missing it). I have no problem telling which direction I'm facing, but I've had to tell a few guys in my squad "no, your other east" in the past.

Re: What do you think should be improved for the final version?

I'd probably add both a directional compass to the minimap and change the player designations on the minimap from the dots back to the arrows like in previous BF games.

I have to agree with simplicity. I think the best compromise would be a radial voice chat and a squad chat. Vietcong has a radial voice chat that's absolutely brilliant. I've always wanted this feature. It's more of a talk key instead of a radio key. Anybody within a certain distance will hear you so this means people in your vehicle, the soldier next to you, the enemy creeping up behind you, anybody within earshot. Then you can use the radio key for communicating with squad leaders, commander, etc. It'll be like real life.

Re: What do you think should be improved for the final version?

That would prove ideal, yes.

The problem of nearby and uncontactable assets deserves attention. I would be satisfied by SL voicecomms or this radial talk you mention.

Ideally, a radial SL radio.

Re: What do you think should be improved for the final version?

I like Vulcans idea, I like to fly, so we should be able to assign like a Anti-Tank Squad/Aero Squad/Assault Squad/Defence Squad/Ect.

And id like to see support for GamePort Devices, because ive got a real good Joystick thats Gameport, better than my brand new Joystick i got just for BF2.

LOL! A black hawk with anti tanks using their rockets, an engineer at 1 gun, a support at another, and a medic pilot. The anti tank squad :P

I would like a server variable which toggles on and off the display on client scoreboards of kill and death counts.

Re: What do you think should be improved for the final version?

This may be above and beyond, and it's probably best accomplished with voice comms, but each SL should have the ability to assign or request a specific role from each member in his squad. For us in TG, we're constantly talking and it's easy to pass out roles, but in the mad house that's currently our server, it's not so easy.

For instance, he can set up predefined *required* positions that are priority fills (medic, AT, etc). When a person joins the squad, he's limited to those choices. As more people file in, it allows them the flexibility to change roles as long as the primary ones are filled. This would maintain squad integrity and we wouldn't have a squad full of snipers, or riflemen, with no medic support.

Or perhaps, EA can be persuaded to have permanent positions in each squad for each class. As people join, they're limited to filling these out initially.

Just brain storming, but perhaps something in here's worthy of attention.

Re: What do you think should be improved for the final version?

It's already happening. Based on last night, I'm already learning (and they too are learning) who on my squad does what well when on my squad. Once you learn that you can trust someone to get something done, automatically understanding that they're prepared to do it comes naturally.

Re: What do you think should be improved for the final version?

I totally agree with houdini's point. That would be really nice, but in the very least they should change the way the squad selection screen works. When you are joining up and choosing your squad and kit it is very hard to make the best decision because dead players have a skull icon instead of their kit icon. This should be changed so it's easy to tell everyone's kit.
