Re: Squad Leader Election and Notification

In the situation where all members in a squad dies in a strategic location except one non-leader, does it work to use the leave and rejoin method to assign a new SL (spawn point) with the aim of maintaining the squad's position in the field? (I hope that makes sense)

If its works, should it be allowed on the TG server.... seems like a huge exploit to me.

Perhaps this is why changing squad leaders is not convenient.

Another way this could be exploited is, all members go out in a different direction... the one who reaches a point of interest first gets to be squad leader. The leave and rejoin is done to assign that player as SL and the squad members spawn on him.

This can make anyone a spawn point if coodinated properly. Just doesnt seem right to me.

I'll take this to the admin forums. If it ever becomes necessary to have a stance about this, we'll have one.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Root: Welcome to TG. Feel free to punctuate your sentences correctly. Monkerz: Its gonna take all my skills to beat those boys off in the future.

Eeew, cheezy. It seems like a lot of work but I'm sure there are people who'd do it if they could.

Not really considering the benefit... wyz said his squad has the switch down to 5 seconds. Add that to the 15 second spawn time and you get a time of 20 seconds to maintain your position in the field instead of the minutes it could take to regroup, find a vehicle, and traverse the map all while trying to stay alive.

Exclamation Re: Squad Leader Election and Notification

We're bordering on exploit discussion, which I don't tolerate in a forum I help moderate. So, while it's an interesting topic, and I'm glad you brought it up (privately would have been ideal, but I'm glad you brought it up at all), I'll say we're done talking about it here, now.

The thread stays open to pursue the original topic.

Quite: with the right squad, this stands to be fairly exploitative.

Total agreement on this; names give recognition. For the first day or two after I decided that I liked being SL, I just created Squad 3/5/whatever, and it would take a while to fill up. Now, I call my squad TARPAN, and I get members pretty quick. Hell, last night eggsquatch was in another squad, and within 2-3 seconds of me creating Squad Tarpan and spawning, he was right there with me. Sadly, I did not have salsa.

Re: Squad Leader Election and Notification

For all SL, if you're just going to leave, atleast notify us. I've been left in a squad with no notification by TG members five or six times, and it's annoying. It's hard to tell, and sometimes people get put into unwanted positions of leadership. Of course they can just leave and comeback, but atleast tell someone before you abandon them.

This may be due to the fact that many people still randomly crash during the game. Others probably get autobalanced, that has happened to me before as SL.

Re: Squad Leader Election and Notification

I know that, and most of the ones I've experienced the person has ended up in another squad on the same team. I don't hold any grudges though, since we're all still learning the game and how things affect each other.

Re: Squad Leader Election and Notification

I actually formed up with several nice squads tonight, Krieg being a notably good SL. As soon as I get my faint-mic problems fixed, I'm gonna try my hand at being an SL.
