Can artillery change hands?

I had heard that it may be possible for artillery to change teams. For example, the artillery on the beach starts out in the USMC possession. However, once the MEC capture a certain beach flag the USMC may no longer use that artillery until they reclaim the flag.

Is this true?

The reason I ask is that I was on the USMC as a SL and was directed by my CO to blow up the beach artillery. Had me confused.

Re: Can artillery change hands?

I don't think it can be captured. Maybe I'm missing something, but I've played commander where all beach flags were MEC and used artillery to shell the nearest flag without a problem.

Last night I think our commander meant to say defend or repair instead of attack on the artillery. That entire round was just confusing to me.

Re: Can artillery change hands?

That probably makes more sense. I wasn't getting any verbal communication out of the CO at that time. At least I know now. :-)

THe arty is not capturable but it's easy to get confused about who owns the darn things when you're fighting between the two beachy bases! Last night I almost had my squad (I was MEC) repair the beach arty but was like "Wait a minute...this isn't our arty!"
