BF2 on your server kind of reminds me of my old army days
First, I want to say I love your server and the team play. When everyone in the squad is playing together BF2 is the best game I have played.
I was in the infantry from 1991 to 1994. I went through a lot of team and squad based training. Mostly we trained in the mountains, but we did do some urban warfare training at Fort Ord, California. Playing with some of you guys the other night on the urban map(forgot the name), reminded me of urban warfare school and a lot of my experiences in general. It's a lot of fun when everyone is using their microphones and talking even when it's only chatter. That's how I remember the army. During action there's a lot of screaming with the occasional off the wall remark to crack everyone up and relieve some tension. I just wanted to drop in and say thanks for the great server and to encourage everyone to use their mics. It helps the authenticity. However, it's probably not a good idea to use ALL the language you may hear in the army. |

I'll second the encouragement for people to be less timid with their mics. The strategic benefits are obvious, but part of the draw of this game for me is meeting and shooting the breeze with new people from all over the world. Especially on this server, which seems to draw the right kind of crowd. So keep up that chatter! (well, except when the SL is trying to give orders).

Re: BF2 on your server kind of reminds me of my old army days
Using the mics does add some fun and light-heartedness to the games. Someone mentioned this in a previous post already... but I was in a squad taking a long boat ride to our objective. There was nothing in site and the comms were silent. It was a peaceful ride,
when all of the sudden someone popped in on the mic with "... anyone have a fishing pole?". I was in tears and we were all laughing.... laughing our way to being shot out of the water by a helo. One thing I want to point out about mic use is there are some things that are better served by using the in-game radio commands. Actually, most of those radio commands have additional benefits by making a person or enemy show up on your teams mini-map. These include radio commands like "need medic", "need ammo", "enemy spotted", etc. Hearing these over the mic just adds to the confusion. It doesn't identify who is requesting the help, where you're located, etc. |

Re: BF2 on your server kind of reminds me of my old army days
Well on that Zatar Wetlands map, my squad and I were holding the western point just west of the bridge as MEC and we realized when I wasn't getting any support that we had no commander....The conversation that played forth was something like this
guy 1 - "Uh, guys we have no commander" guy 3 - "What? We have no commander?" guy 1 - "Nope, no commander" guy 2 - So we have no commander" guy 5 - "No commander?" guy 4 - "Wait a sec guys, I think this means we have no commander!" etc etc the whole conversation went on for a LONG time with everyone just saying the word "commander" over and over again then we all started laughing about it. Dumb, but funny. We were on defense there for a while so it was releiving --JP |
