The Ghost Helo Pilot bug...

Land your helo so that is is sitting on something the game considers unstackable...walkways with rails are good examples (rails are unstackable objects). A perfect example is on top of the big square craine at the eastern most flag on Dalian Plant map. Land your helo to the east of the building up there.

Hop out.

Watch your helo power up and take off, spinning into the distance.

If you are not in an attack chopper your helo will still take off, but it will flip over and crash rather than flying off into the distance.

See, empty servers are good for something .

Instead of hopping out you can just switch to the gunner's seat. But, oddly, the helo won't auto-fly level in that case and you will crash within a few seconds.

Re: The Ghost Helo Pilot bug...

This is, of course, not to be confused with version 2 of the Ghost Helo Pilot Bug:

You are the gunner of an attack helo and also squad leader. The pilot in your squad is shot and killed while you are hovering. The helo, unpiloted, continues to hover and spi nbut does not crash. The pilot respawns in his original position 15 seconds later and you two continue on your merry way.

Ok, maybe not a bug but very unrealistic. They should at least have the heli spin and begin to crash if the pilot dies forcing you to switch seats and pilot it yourself. At least you can conceivable argue in a real situation a gunner could climb out of his seat and take over the controls in an emergency.

Heh, I was noticing that too. It's funny when you're flying through all the ghost helicopters, they make good obtacles to break a lock on or to hide behind and ambush other aircraft. One player was using it to "hide" the helicopters, our helicopters. We had to shoot the Blackhawk down with a jet so we could get back into action.

in a real situation a gunner would flip a switch and take control of the pilot controls from his gunner seat.
