Battlefield 2 Private Server Update

The Battlefield 2 Private Server underwent a little update tonight. We have unlocked all the weapons and as such expect to have that server de-listed from the in-game server browser.

Any supporting member wishing to use the Battlefield 2 Private server will need to connect to it using the IP address rather than the in-game server browser.

Battlefield 2 Private Server IP: 70.84.146.202

Enjoy!

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Root: Welcome to TG. Feel free to punctuate your sentences correctly. Monkerz: Its gonna take all my skills to beat those boys off in the future.

That's clever. I'm seriously thinking about a supporting membership. From what I played in the demo, the medic's unlockable is almost as precise as the sniper on single-shot.

Re: Battlefield 2 Private Server Update

I've noticed that the new private server has been deficient in players since its launch. I was wondering if it would be possible to change the player limit and map size to something more enticing to get folks in to fill up the server. I was thinking 26 players on a 16 player map. This would allow for 2 full squads of 6 (or more if divided appropriately) and a commander position on each side. I think what is keeping a lot of supporting members from sticking around in the server is that the maps are too large to get any momentum going.

They're currently the 64 player size I believe. I think we'd be fine with a 32. 64 is just too big.

Re: Battlefield 2 Private Server Update

I think I found the ability to keep the slots at 48 but run the smaller maps. I'm going to test it out today.

On a lot of the 32 player maps it is the 64 player version minus two CP's. I really think TG should lower the slot availability (you're more likely to join if the server is 18/20 slots over 18/64) and give the smallest mao versions a try even if only for a weekend. They really do offer a different perspective on each map--and it's fun to play in such a focused arena (think Kark).

That would be a nice start I didn't realise there was a technical aspect of keeping small maps but having a high slot count... Although I think a smaller slot number would still attract and hold supporting members in the server better than a large slot number. You gotta work up some interest in this private server

Re: Battlefield 2 Private Server Update

You probably already fixed this, but the VOIP was not working last night in the private server. I think the smaller maps would be good because we had 14 players in there last night and they were their for about 1hr till the map changed.

Re: Battlefield 2 Private Server Update

Agreed... would be cool to play 64 players in a small-size map

Re: Battlefield 2 Private Server Update

Just got signed up for the month... looking forward to checking out this private server thing.

Question about the unlocked weapons - are you saying that they are all unlocked, or that they are available to people of a certain rank? Sounds like you unlocked them all, but I wanted to clarify. That definitely makes it worth checkin' out!

See y'all on the private.

They are all unlocked, regardless of your current rank.

Re: Battlefield 2 Private Server Update

Just popped into the private server - says global unlocks 0. Was this changed?

To access unlocked weapons, we must select them from the BFHQ descriptions of each class, correct?

"Allow Global Unlocks" is the setting that allows those who have earned unlocked weapons on Ranked servers to use them on your Unranked server.

However, it being set to 1 or 0 is irrelavent as a tweak has been made to a Python file to allow unlocked weapons for ALL users, regardless of rank attained elsewhere.
