Intro and a question

Sup everyone, I made an intro post in the main Gen Discussion, but I figured I'd post here considering this is the only game I play right now.

I was playing in some BF2 servers and was looking for a team oriented group of players and someone had mentioned this site to me. I decided to check it out and like what I see. I don't play as much as I used to because I have a busy schedule, but I try to hop on at least every other day. I've had a long experience of FPS experience dating back to the original doom. I played Planetside for over a year for a while when it came out and led one fo the most successful Outfits on the Johari server. I am 23, work in IT, and run a website for fun in my spare time besides playing games.

Anyway, I enjoy using voice and working as a team but its all about having fun as well. Hope to see some people in game. Shoot me a squad invite if you see me in . User name should be Hawtalta

Now, I had one question regarding the game. It seems pretty buggy, but when I try to login to the account server it automatically connects me to some random server and it takes forever for me to get into the account server. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

Welcome. Make sure to read Battlefield 2 - Official Rules, Announcements & SOPs http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlefield-2-official-rules-announcements-sops/ When you install the game they put two icons on your desktop. One should be Battlefield 2 and the other I beleive is Connect to Battlefield 2 (at work so im trying to remember, excuss me if im wrong). If you click on Battlefield 2 you can select what server you want to go to the other will put you in a random server.

Re: Intro and a question

Welcome. I think the two icons are Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2 Play Now or something to that effect. Battlefield 2 Play Now boots up your game and throws you in an official server and bypasses all the options, I guess this is for the gamer who just wants to hop right in. Try reinstalling with desktop icons maybe to make it more clear on which file to click on.

I dont think you need to reinstall you should be able to copy the file from the Battlefield2 folder to the desktop.

Re: Intro and a question

This is the 'target' for the icon to not auto join servers. Make sure yours is similar:

"D:\Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1

I found my game always trying to connect to a server when I logged in until I removed the +menu 1. Now it never tries to connect to a server.

Yep. When you install you get two shortcuts... once is an "instant play" where the menu parameter is used and logs you into a (random) server.

Re: Intro and a question

Mine has the menu parameter and does not log me into a server. I deleted the icon that does that, so I can't compare.

I've never used the 'instant play' icon. I removed it once I noticed its existance. It would be nice if you could tell it to instantly connect to the TG server IP.

I'm guessing there is a way to set up your shortcut to connect directly to an IP. I don't know if offhand though.

Haahah yeah that was me. No one else would fill the command spot, so I thought I would give it a try. It is fun on occasion, but there is just so much going on it can be really hard to keep up, especially when squads won't go where you tell em etc. Puts to much stress on me sometimes.

Anyway, I should be in tonight after I finish updating my site.

If any of you guys are bored feel free to check it out (its kind of like an ebaum's world type of site). http://www.hawtalta.com
