EA Recommending Downgrade

Apparently EA is now officially recommending both server and client downgrades because of memory leak issues. On the client side they are recommending re-installing from scratch.

Apophis, based upon this recommendation will the TG servers be downgraded?

It is undetermined at this time what course of action we are going to take. I'm going to do some research tomorrow and see what options we have and try and determine an ETA for the actual fix.

Guess this might explain why I keep getting disconnected from the servers, eh?

Odd. It was fine for me last night. What's their ETA on a patch to the patch?

Re: EA Recommending Downgrade

I did get a weird disconnection from server 2 last night in between a map change. The load screen never changed and the load bar never showed. It timed out and I couldn't connect to the server again. It returned a 2500 ping, didn't display who was on the server, and said it was full every time I tried to connect. I did get back on later. I think I'm willing to tough it out until they fix this. I'm too lazy to reinstall.

Re: EA Recommending Downgrade

I've noticed really long load times on the TG server, my client will finish loading/verifying, then go into the game... But the game just doesnt do anything, as if the PC is locked up, but th eimages on the screen are moving (trees swaying, etc) It takes like 4-5 minutes for the server to respond and the game actually begins. Maybe that's the leak issue

Re: EA Recommending Downgrade

Could we maybe leave one server patched and the other downgraded? I have no problems with the new patch, and the server you have up now seems ok to me.

Maybe this would prevent those of us with no problems from having to reinstall...

Then again, I guess I could play on another server, but this place is just so much fun!

Re: EA Recommending Downgrade

No new problems with new patch here. I'd like to keep at least one server as 1.01, otherwise I'll probably just wait till they fix it instead of reinstalling.

Re: EA Recommending Downgrade

Yep, I cant complain about the patch either, and Ive played for extended periods (where I guess I should have noticed a mem leak).

Ill downgrade if TG downgrades. Otherwise its staying until the next patch. I know its a pain for TG to constantly need to reboot every few hours, but if you guys dont mind doing that, I would recommend we leave the 1.1 patch as is, until we hear more details.

Oh and EA F'ed up big time with this mistake... but like you said, its such a damn good game Im willing to forgive them (just this once)
