Question Team assets showing up as enemy.

Specifically, the UAV trailer and the Radar, last night on Kubra Dam(n), playing as MEC.

After taking the commander role 15 minutes into the game after no candidates for the position, I was surprised to find that these MEC assets had American flags on them and did not show on the map, at all.

This was noticed after MEC took back the airfield from the Yanks. I explained this to the SL's, and somebody suggested destroying them. Well, destroy them they did, but they couldn't be repaired (they still belonged to the USA - can you repair enemy units!?).

Anyway, eventually I got my eyes back, first the UAV, then the radar. It took at least 20 minutes from the moment I noticed. I'm not sure what the solution was, other than time itself. That's a pretty long time in these games.

I'd be curious to know if anyone else has experienced this and whether they know what the fix is. Perhaps you were there last night and can offer some additional insight.

It would be pretty valuable to completely deny the commander these assets, but I'm not convinced this behaviour is by design.

Needless to say, we lost.

I believe what actually fixed it was that we blew the stuff up, but suddenly lost the main base to the US again. Once we recaptured it, the assets were ours to repair.

Major bug in the game, if you ask me. Sure am glad that EA made it so that I'm allowed to rebind my left mouse button though!

Re: Team assets showing up as enemy.

I had a big problem with that last night, i mean, it was real bad. I "TKed" probably 8 or 9 times on the same guy that was IN MY SQUAD! He tryed to leave, go to the menu, and everything, WTF IS GOING ON?

I was in a APC and i would fire at anything that had the Names in red, i think it was Todw, he was on my squad, and i killed him a couple times, and it had nothing to do with UAV or the other assets. I wasnt reading the names, i was just looking at them, didnt have enough time to read, there was 100+ guys in one area.

So the solution is to lose the base, and recapture it?

While not as severe as that, I encounter this problem almost every night I play. It would seem very closely related to the assets showing up as enemy as well. However, your problem tends to be limited to the client, ie. only you see the friendlies as enemies, while the asset problem is probably server based since the assets were enemy for everyone. I could be wrong, that guy you TKed might have been showing up red for others as well.

But really, 100+ guys!? Me thinks you see triple, Black_V!per.

ACtually, they didn't...if you follow their command to reinstall BF2 to remove the 1.01 patch because they screwed it up so badly!
