Re: Stop the incessant commander votekicks

Yeah, I don't think I like the commander spamming the enemy spotted. I get confused and it really bothers me. Maybe one enemy spotted and the commander should explain it over voice. I guess if the commander doesn't have a mic but then I have to wonder why the person is commanding.

In either case, believe me, the CO is doing SOMEONE a favor, and it's worth all the spam.
It's nice to hear someone support this.

I must be one of those annoying commanders. But you know-instead of getting knifed in the face every 10 or 20 minutes because I'm too busy watching where my squads are to look around I could be sniping off the top of some tower. I had a SL complain about my spamming (on another server) and although I never expected to hear someone upset about spamming "spotted" I stopped spamming his area at least. He rescinded his complaint when he realized that everyone else was benefiting from my use of the "spotted" rose and he wasn't because I wasn't pointing out enemy near him. As far as the UAV goes, yeah, it's nice to have it, but I assign it to the most important/valuable objective, which may not be where you and your squad were sent. Different people have different missions and the cap that results in an extra attack chopper and tank/apcs is going to get my most valuable resources to offer-as well as more than one squad assigned to it. That doesn't mean your squad isn't important, it just means that what you're doing at that exact moment isn't the primary objective. I usually send my best squad out alone against a weak point because I know that they're going to draw, and bear, the brunt of enemy counter-attacks when the enemy freaks out, then send in two squads flanking the primary objective. The primary objective gets the UAV at the least (maybe the arty depending on how many enemy are concentrated there, but I'm going to be zoomed in at 3x watching my best squads butt so that they don't get flanked by some god-forsaken MBT or get carpet bombed while in the open. If you don't value that-maybe you should ask yourself if the commander is trying to be annoying, or trying to keep you from dying as often.

I disagree with those who don't like too many 'enemy spotted's.. Just like the UAV, this is an underused asset. As a commander, I see player after player just walk right by a player that has been spotted or UAV'd, only to get shot in the back after passing him.

All of us need to make more use of the radar.

Re: Stop the incessant commander votekicks

When I play commander, I don't care if there are a million muntiy votes because I never see them since I am in the commander screen. If one is successful, then I guess I will feel relieved, but I've never had that happen.

Yes sir, I am usually too busy looking at every thing else to see the chat going on. Maybe to a fault, but I just assume that my squad leads have voip and are going to communicate. The ones that don't get stuck defending the rear base. That's a joke, kind of.

Re: Stop the incessant commander votekicks

yeah no doubt! Some people are so friggin lame....they either start like 20 mutiny votes because you outranked them or they just hunt you down and TK you over and over till you leave or TK them and get kicked. The other day I resigned as commander because some tardo kept messin with me...turns out the dude was one of the worst commanders ive ever seen....out flyin around in empty blackhawks and ignoring his duties.....EFFING bastard

Re: Stop the incessant commander votekicks

We had a commander tonight who was flying around in an attack chopper. I went ahead and warned him that he needed to be on the ground commanding. He finally got off, so I decided to step up to the plate and try commanding. Well, we lost 182-0 but I had fun, even if I commanded the next round and ended up with all my flags gone after having BF2 minimize from an AV popup.

I actually go a step beyond this, and watch things on the full map when I get the chance. Gives you a much better indication of what is where. But yea, I almost pay more attention to my radar than the actual game.

You rule.

I hope that it's possible through scripting to do that. I don't care who you are, if you're a ground pounder and not a SL, there's no way you can see the big picture as well as the CO and the SL's. How in the world can you vote to kick the CO in your situation?

I would just like to add, the one time I was CO in a full scale battle on a TG server, I was amazed at the SUPPORT i got from my SL's. It was on the peninsula map, and my main objective was to get enough strongpoint to make the other side bleed tickets. It took all of about 3 minutes in the CO chair to realize that I was totally out of my depth (until you've actually been CO, you'll never understand the magnitude of the information that you're slapped in the face with). At one point, I saw a concentration of enemy troops on a strongpoint. I called in an arty strike, while one of my SL starts screaming at me to call it in on the same spot. I apologized and said I'm working on it, this **** is just overwhelming. And he said, Don't worry, your doing great! That's when I decided not to resign. Later that round, I ordered a squad off an objective, because I had become obsessed with retaking the center strongpoint. He (Ronnie_Raygun) politely refused, explaining that he was in heavy contact where he was, and also that if we gave his spot up, it would expose our entire east flank. I was glad he did, because he was right.

And, we won the map! Without my coveted central spawn point.

To sum this long assed post up, all these people who initiate these seemingly random kick votes (probably caused by getting hit by arty that they should have seen anyway) should step up and get some of that CO stuff before they start criticizing.

It's a hard and thankless job.
