Cool panoramic/360 scenes from battlefield

check it out...some nice 360 degree pics from battlefield. Might need quicktime.

http://www.vrway.com/vr_bf2/home_fullscreen.html

p.s. that is what the game really looks like with high graphic settings unlike my low-med settings

how cool. what a great way to waste time at work... aside from posting here, mind you.

now if only I could get TK'd while scanning those 360 degree screenshots, that would perfect the illusion while at work!

BF2 takes a monster system to run with graphics like that. That's what mine look like, I'm running the following:

A64 3700+
2GB PC3200 Ram
X800XT PE video card
Audigy 2 soundcard
Resolution forced to 1680x1050

I have all graphic settings on high with the exception of the shadows, those settings are on low (3 shadow settings). AA set to 2X.

IMO, they could've done a much better optimization job with this game to make medium systems run with it looking this good.

True. Take Doom3 or HL2.

They can run with everything on full at 1600 x 1200 and you don't need a super computer to do it..just a decent high end system with a new generation vid card.

That's odd, cuz that's pretty good stuff you got. Have you done any system optimization? You know, make sure you don't have spyware running in the background, no viruses, etc. Don't take offense to the question because some people do suffer from this problem. Make sure you don't have a ton of programs running in the background. I could get away with 1GB of RAM, but it was super choppy for about the first 30 seconds of the game while things were cached to the hard drive. In the in game settings, be sure you have the shadows settings turned to low (there are 3 settings). Set the others to medium and turn off AA in the game. Also go into your video card properties and make sure you have AF set to application preference.

Just by looking at your hardware I'd say you should be able to run that at 1280x960 with no issues at all.

Re: Cool panoramic/360 scenes from battlefield

I have a setup very similar to JMJ's 2GB, however my AMD 3700+ is a San Diego core (1mb L2 cache instead of 512k), and I use a GeForce 6800GT instead of a similar ATI.

The game runs very smoothly for me. Actually I was surprised at the screenshots, thinking that I wasn't on High (hey those look like my screens!), but checking my settings, I found I was already there.
