I was playing in the private server trying to snipe and i see 3 guys with the M203 just a grenadeing all over...so acurate and on target. It gets my blood pumping when i hit one and try to reload and shoot the other two before they see me...dint work!...nice work guys. the sad thing is i dont think they fired a single shot just grenades

Re: M203
I've found going as engineer when SL and finding tight places as a spawn point ideal. I wasn't killed once as squad leader when enemies came upon me in my tight quarters. Granted not all maps/flags grant you this option, but it worked perfectly on Dalian Plant. Plenty of buildings to hide in with only one entrance. Moment enemy would walk through, he fell over

Re: M203
When using the USMC Assualt Kit you don't get a full auto option, so I switch to the 203 when stuff starts getting close. At longer ranges I use it as a mortar of sorts. That rarely works tough. Even on an OpFor side I will choose the grenade at medium ranges rather than the gun. Full auto is ridiculously innacurate even at "whites of their eyes" range.

Re: M203
The one shot capability of the grenade launchers (vs. infantry) combined with their ability to fire indirectly is the shining beacon of the assault class.
Getting good with them is key to maximizing your effectiveness.

I'm getting fairly decent with the grenade launcher. Only problem is that I wish it had a slightly larger blast radius; your targets have to be almost riding piggy-back if you want to get multiple kills.

Re: M203
that reminds me when I spawned up on the hill where the 2 AA missile mounts are on Dragon Valley at that middle base surrounded by water.
A whole enemy squad was at the edge of the hill firing down on the flag. I spawned right behind all of them as AT. 2 guys were prone right next to each other next to a rock. I quickly switched to my missle and fired right inbetween them. They both died. I then switched to my assault weapon and killed one more before the other 2 turned around and took me out. It was a sweet victory.

Re: M203
When I play assault I keep finding myself using the grenade launcher as my primary weapon, the only time I don't have it out is in extremely close quarters like inside a building or just for that moment you turn a corner. The one shot-one kill and ability to take out sprinting/crack jumping maniacs just makes it *the* first contact weapon.
Sometimes though, it almost feels "cheap", I dunno maybe I'm just a young softie but I get to feeling bad for those guys when I'm on a role with that nade thing. I wish I had more smokes, maybe that'd help me feel more "tactical" again. ;P

Re: M203
I have been using the M203 quite a bit and getting very good at it even with long shots (I have fired the real thing and after mucho practice could always hit my target, albeit a very sore shoulder!).
I was watching a movie once where this person was using an M203 to fight a T-Rex. He was pumping the thing like a shotgun and firing shot after shot!! That's Hollywood for ya! But wouldn't it be great if it could work that way? |

Re: M203
I've fallen in love with the grenade launcher. I was getting drilled by a sniper on top of a 3 story building last night and he kept taking cover behind the top edge of the building where I couldn't see him. I aimed my grenade launcher at the ventilation box that was beside his location and lobbed a grenade up there...boom. Bye, bye you sneaky bastahd. It was sweet. That grenade launcher rocks. It's good for taking out buggies and jeeps too. Only down side about it is you need to constantly get more ammo for it but that does balance it some with the other weapons.
