Ok, now, I know this has been said before, but this is getting rediculus.

I have only been playing Non-Demo BF2 for a few days, but even on the TG server, I am having terrible problems with aircraft being taken by people not in the apropriate squads!

Tonight I had EagleD and one squadmate PlopFrog00 totally disregaurd any rules reguarding ANYTHING TG. They were in a squad named Echo locked to 2 people and we had been in a string of maps where the only aircraft on the map is a single 2-person hellicopter. These two would teamkill anyone who tried to take the helicopter, and when I did manage to almost beat them to the helicopter to reserve it for the AIR squad (which I was a part of) EagleD crashed the helicopter, then TK'd me when I spawned so they would get the hellicopter to themselves. On top of that, he then had the balls to say that the aircraft was HIS squad's aircraft, how dare I try to use it? Then complained that he came to the TG server to get away from idiots who try to steal vehicles.

Well, I agree, people SHOULD come to the TG server to keep away from people stealing vehicles, but that is exactly what HE was doing, by preventing a squad designated for AIR from using the only aircraft on the map.

Now, this is the incident that I have found tonight, but I have ran into this every game sofar.

Is there a way that a script could be written so that there is a full-time squad named Air (or something to that effect) and then assult aircraft (anything other than transport maybe?) could only be flown by that squad? It's the only way I can think of to prevent this type of thing...

And yes, I looked, and there was not any admins that I recognized on the server at the time.

TKing is against the rules-so that's a no no. So is naming names.

But as far as I know, being in the aircraft squad doesn't reserve the aircraft for you. It's not in the rules at least-so you should get over the idea that they were "stealing" the chopper from the air squad just like they should have been pricks about you "stealing" the vehicle.

It makes sense to have a 2 person squad in the helo since they can hear commander orders directly and if they're part of a larger squad they're required to stay with their squad as close support.

Finally, the admins usually idle in Teamspeak. If you don't have it, get it, then get on and ask one of them to do something. They're usually very responsive and quick to ask. They're not going to just sit in the server so they can help kick people if they don't feel like playing...

You know the whole idea of thinking that a vehicle belongs to you just because you gave your squad a special name is kind of ridiculous. Especially helicopters. If a squad needs helo support and there is a helo not being used, I don't see what the big deal is. There is no mention in the server rules of aircraft belonging to the "Air squad"

The worst idea would be the one I was reading about earlier...about having "Armor squads." That's a terrible idea. You know how many times in a night your squad needs armor support? There is no way you can wait for the "Armor squad" to respond.

But hey, that's just my opinion, and I really don't care because I think the aircraft are more of an annoying nuisance than anything else.

If you crash your craft, and someone is next to the pad wating for it when you return, suck it up and let them have a go at the helo/jet for a while.

Can't believe I had to register just for this guy. Ah well...

I'd like to start off with, wassup TG! Best BF2 server out there.

Now on to the OG poster. I was running a two man locked squad which started on the map before when I noticed nobody was grabbing the attack helo. I jumped in, somebody else joined, I locked the squad and we became the official attack helo squad. We didn't name our squad AIR or HELO but we WERE the helicopter squad.

The next map comes and what do you know? A helicopter sitting right there, so we continue our attack helo squad. Me and plop. Now we're not doing the best job, but we are trying. At one point we crash, regrab the helo, my gunner was left behind at the artillery we were frequently asked to repair. I get ready to head back to pick up my gunner and notice theres a random guy in the gunner seat. NP, anybody I asked to leave earlier would leave when I let them know that I already had a squad gunner. Not this guy though.

Apparently because he had named his squad AIR he believed that he was the only one allowed to fly the helo and refused to leave for my squad gunner. So I took the helo, repaired the artillery, told my gunner that I would return for him after I dropped this guy off. So once again I asked him if he would leave for my gunner, he would not. I'm starting to get angry, this is 2-3 minutes of inactivity for me and my gunner just trying to get this guy to leave the gunner seat. This was a two man squad I was running, my gunner couldn't just run off as an infantry man alone while I took a random gunner.

So when I realized the guy really would not leave I crashed the helo, respawned and noticed the guy was heading right back to the helo. Pretty pissed at this point I just said, "Screw it" and put him down for 10 seconds. I felt like I was on a public server and didn't know any other way to deal with the guy who not only had no gunner in his squad, but was intent on taking the helicopter.

I apologize for breaking the rules of the server. I'm not going to cowtail to this kid who thought he had dibs on the aircraft simply because he named his squad AIR. Had he been civil about it, rather than wasting me and my gunners time for 2-3 minutes, I would have been more than happy to race him to the helicopter and if he ever beat me there I would have opened my squad up and become a normal infantry squad. But he wanted to be an ass about it.

1) Player names should NOT be called out for public criticism in the forums.

2) There currently is no server rule about "rights" to any vehicle on your team.

3) TKing will NOT be tolerated on our servers for any reason.
