Re: Misleading name
I'm a youth director at a church. Hence the name. I also was quite the sniper in DoD and TFC(though in TFC not so difficult heh) back in the day and I always thought of the scene in Saving Private Ryan where Jackson was sniping from the tower....and "Steeple" just reminds me of high sniping spots as well. Though I really am not a sniper in BF2....assault or AT all the way.

Re: Misleading name
Hé Rincewind,
Thought I recognised your name from the Discworldseries. Hope that you don't run from or attract trouble the same as your namesake! ;-) Then again having a traveling bookcase with you......... Marco |

Re: Misleading name
Lets see, I came up with this name probably in about 92'-93'. I originally was trying to find a name that would fit what I wanted my hacking/cracking identity to be.
I figured AntiVisual aka unseen or unnoticed. I used this on dial up BBS's etc before the advent of public internet. Then, when online gaming became feasible with games like doom and duke nukem I carried it over. I don't like change and I also like to be recognizable across all fronts, so I have stuck with this name since. |

SmokingTarpan comes from from the Magic: The Gathering card game. I'm known for playing with some really useless cards to throw people off, and one of them is called Tarpan (a tarpan is a pre-historic horse). Since it's useless, my buddies and I came up with the story that the only good thing the Tarpan could have going for it is flicking a lit cigarette at someone right before death. Thus, the Smoking Tarpan. There's a lot more to the story, but it's mostly a "had to be there" kinda thing. I wanted to use my old BF1942 name of B.Rock, but all variations were taken. We had a "Rocks" group of all different letters. I tried using my CS:S name of Black Dog (following the myth), but that was taken too.

Re: Misleading name
I have the same problem with misconceptions about my name, DrunkenSoul.
But, you know, the truth is, I haven't struck fear into anyone in ... oh, I dunno, prolly a good 6 or 7 months. ^^ Silly. I've only had 3 game nicks. I started with "Statik", later switched to "Visceral", and finaly "StrikeFear." In each case, it just seemed like the time to switch.

Re: Misleading name
B is my first letter of my name. Bat is what everybody calls me. Real real name is long, hard and difficult to put it in the mouth. (sorry if the joke is bit weird. I am straight with a fiance.) Since I started playing CoD, I wanted to use a modest name. So I was playing as Pvt.B. After I got recruited by the clan it just became B and I became Ssgt.
I used to use "zaraa" during the demo era. It means hedgehog in my native language. That was my nickname when I was little boy in my class. But people have hard time saying zaraa too. So B is the easiest to say and fastest to say. |

Re: Misleading name
B, what is your native language? I noticed you have an accent when playing with you, but no idea what kind it is.
As for my name, I got it from Harold and Kumar, when they had the munchies.

Re: Misleading name
Funny I've been Trigger since Quake came out what was it 1994? Used to play in a clan called EQ. Ah the dawn of competition internet gaming, anyone remember the name Thresh? Back then there were no Triggers, now gezzz can't use this name anywhere. I think I'm going to have come up with something original one of these days.

Re: Misleading name
me:
I was registering for I don't remember which game or forum something like 8 years ago... mart: user already used mart1: user already used mart2: user already used mart3: user already used Then I said the heck with that, I jumped up straight to "242". Now, some other guy had the same idea because I am mart243 on ebay... mart242 was already in use!
