Props to the medics
I don't think medics get enough appreciation in-game, so here in the forums I want to say THANK YOU to the medics I've been playing with the past couple weeks. The difference in the quality of play when I have a good medic vs a bad medic is HUGE. There's a couple regular medics I play with (Snap and EvilLemon come to mind, but there are a few others) that I know will always help make the game great for me as a SL.
Some things I've noted about medics playing in my squad... Good medics: Know their role, and why it's vital to a successful squad Are there before I can call out to heal or revive me Stick close to me when attacking an enemy base Lay plenty of health packs at key areas (attack staging area or flag we're defending) Bad medics: Lone wolf it, or go off where they're no use to the squad Are unresponsive to my repeated requests for a revive Generally aren't engaged in the squad Don't pay enough attention/diligence toward their role Especially in tight, end-of-game scenarios, medics make the difference between that W and L. They're the only class that can actually save the team points. So to the good one's that I've played with - Thanks.

Re: Props to the medics
I played with a godly medic last night. Can't remember his name, but it started with a p. He brought me back to life so many times that I was starting to feel undead. I do love that kind of support.

Re: Props to the medics
Snap is indeed a crazy medic. He would take point when we attacking a flag and throw med packs on the way to the flag. If we are under fire we would return fire and use his med packs which gives us advantage. He is always there to revive as well.
If u get Snap let him be the medic. He won't let ya down. Get it? Down. (bad joke) EvilLemon is insane medic as well... Myself rarely play as a medic when I play as a medic I do what Snap does. So to add to the good medic list: -Drop health packs on the route to the attack zone. -Once the flag is captured drop healthpacks on the flag so everybody can be healed up. -When attacking stay close to your SL especially if your SL is one of those aggressive ones who goes into battle with his squad (Beatnik, Tarpan) -When the squad makes a firing squad and fires on an enemy position for a while as suppressive stay in the back heal em up and revive em. -When defending a flag after SL assigns position get some health packs on each positions. -After a while you will get good at reviving very good. even under pressure you can revive a person with one shock. So get the hang of that. If the threat is minimal eliminate it and then revive. -Finally run around and revive away. |

From all medics, I say thank you for the props.
Love playing medic, and happy to do my job. In a game of life and death, healing and revive = uber! Like ive said before, I really enjoy reviving a squad leader, and watching reinforcements gate in. If you see me online, ive got your back bro. |

Re: Props to the medics
hehe, thanks alot, considering my recent nade spam mistakes, this is unnexpected :P But yeah, I have played medic for 2 years with the rtcw squad at New Century Gamers www.ncgamers.com.
In BF2 it counts even more since a revive is a ticket. The tactics I use are the ones posted above, especially the one about taking out the enemy before doing the revives, it works well as the enemy is often already low on hp. Right now I am testing new revive tactics taking in account the time left on the respawn timer, and also testing how enemy bodies can be gibbed to prevent the revives...more on that soon. "Clear!" "Now get back to the fight!"

Re: Props to the medics
icky: Yeah I realize the game's new and there will be some new guys feeling out different roles... it's just great to be able to have an experienced, team-focused medic on your squad. This thread may be construed as providing some reinforcement/guidance to those *less* than outstanding...
Buda you're definitely one of the others I've played with that rise above the rest. Couldn't remember your exact name last nite... my bad. And I'm definitely not praising *all* medics. About 20% of the ones I've played with really stand out. That's who this thread is addressed to. Their value was thrown into relief over the weekend when I played with a couple less-than-stellar medics, and realized how used I was to getting revived/healed all the time.

Re: Props to the medics
I think the biggest difference between good medics and bad medics is that the good ones know the difference between when someone should just remain dead and when they should be revived.
Most medics get the concept and they are the best freind a soldier can have. However, some medics insist on reviving a dead soldier multiple times when they are clearly in a death zone. If you have to revive the same person 3 times in 5 seconds - that should be a clue that the enemy has a bead on that position so just let that brave soldier lie in peace and spawn to fight another day.

Re: Props to the medics
icky, I think he's referring to leadfoots that simply cant get up and run once they've been revived. man, I hate reviving some1 only to see them just sitting there... tat-tat-tat. dead again.
tip of the day: moving targets are harder to shoot. |
