Recently I have seen people create squad names that are totally irrelevant and misleading.

First of all, if someone creates a name that is inappropriate (like I heard on Teamspeak today) please report them to an admin on TS.

Secondly, please try not to create squad names that dont apply. For example, I saw a squad called Beatnik that was created just after the PW was put up, and Beatnik was not even in the game. I know when Beatnik is leading a squad, they are usually full, but if you want a full squad dont try to live off another TGer's name. I think that people should use thier own name or use the default squad names.

P.S. this is not meant at a specific person, but the example I used today is just one of the ones I remember. I know that if Tarpan/Beatnik or someone else leads the squad and then leaves the name is still there. I understand that, but try not to create a squad with someone elses name if they werent even a part of it.

uh, that WAS beatnik's squad. i was in it.

also, in other cases, it's not people naming there squads misleadingly. often, a squad is made my one person, and it stays full as gradually the original squad leader (or whole original squad) leave. i've had this happen, only to end up in a great squad, so we stay together, despite the name.

Well I became SL of Tarpan's squad tonight after the server disconnected him....we finished out the map, but afterward, it didn't seem right to me to keep his name on a squad that he wasn't leading. Was in the process of forming a new one when I got booted myself....

However, to each their own. Though I do agree with Drunken in that I've seen some totally off the wall and even inappropriate names lately.

Thanks for calling that out. Actually it wasn't my squad - I was running my squad the whole nite starting at about 9 until about 1 am, but I heard about that squad from someone else, asking why I wasn't there. That was a bit confusing...

Speaking of names, were there some anti-semitic sounding players running around earlier? I heard a rumble about that too. I assume blatantly inflamatory names like 'anti-jew' or something to that effect are bootable...?

As for the "offending" squad name tonight, I didn't like seeing that at all, and it managed to stick around for far too long. At one point after getting kicked by PB I came back in and found that that was the only squad with space left. I ended up just sitting, not playing at all instead of joining that squad. (I didn't start my own because I was beginning to feel guilty about all the squads I abandoned tonight thanks to PB.)

Beatnik was on the US side...another squad was on the MEC side called beatnik at the same time...I know because I was on that MEC side Beatnik squad and then switched over to the US side when I couldn't find a squad I enjoyed, and I saw that 'Beatnik's' squad was on the US side as well, and he was actually leading this one, and I joined it.

Change the name. Leaving/joining squads is easy. The SL should tell the squad the name of the squad he's gonna form, kick everyone and make the squad. It's a simple matter, requiring 10-15 seconds.
Anyone who can't handle the transition - no great loss.
