"Forced to join squad" rule not working

I was just playing a game, and I joined a squad as I was required. You know what we did for the whole match?

STAND AROUND!

Very little combat, NOTHING. Before you scream "JUST JOIN ANOTHER SQUAD" they were full. I was on for a bit yesterday, and I noticed people seem to join squads, and the squadleader never gives out orders. Everyone just goes off and does whatever.

There HAS to be another way. Thats the bad thing about forcing people to join squads, you get stuck in a bad one and cant switch, it REALLY puts a damper on the fun.

Maybe I will have better luck tonight.

The easy answer would be, start a new squad, you will be in direct contact with the commander, I am sure he will understand, and ppl usualy will leave the other squad to join yours.

But what TG enforces is, as a member of the squad, to get the broken squad to work. In this situation, as a member of the squad, I just say "ok lets all reform on the squadleader". It actually worked every time.

best,

You can either create your own squad or report the SL for not following orders if that is the case:

Slight hitch with this: a squad member generally has no idea if the SL is following orders or not. In the past, I've had SL's that have denied every order I gave them; they basically gave me the finger and set their own objectives. When I talked about it after the game, members of said squads were upset that the SL was doing that, but as far as they knew he was following orders. Unless the SL says something like "screw the CO, we're doing our own thing", there's no real way to tell.

The 9 max squads needs to be expanded. It seems every night there are 9 squads and most are full while others are locked or doing something I'm not interested in (like Air).

I'm going to state the obvious here, in this case the Commander should report the SL to an admin.

The only way we will continue to get the kind of teamwork we have had is to continue to report slackers to admins. Just because the past week or so has been great doesn't mean we have won the battle against frag counters.

I suggest everyone follow the link Bommando provided, print it out and stick it to their wall

Also, if you notice a really problematic player (griefer) report them to an admin by PM if they are not online. This way we can ban them if this happens enough.

Use the text chat and in as big a way as possible, highlight that SL X is not following orders and is letting the team down. The rule on the loading screen is that SL's follow orders from command - if you cannot follow this rule go and play elsewhere.

And of course SL's can suggest idea's to the CO. Yesterday my 4 man squad where assign to defend a point, however I saw a gap in our defences and suggested to the CO that we stay where we are and that was accepted. Yes it meant we stood around for 3 or 4 minutes doing nothing but so what? I actually appreciated the break and sometimes that's the way it works. You don't always get to go into the action.
