What's the best fighter jet?

To you fly boys out there, are all fighters equal in dogfight abilities? I have a feeling that the USMC F35B is not quite as agile as the J10 and the MEC's fighter. But it could be the skill of the pilot as well... Thoughts?

Thanks

I hear the J10 is better than the F35B in BF2. It's a blasphemy since the F35 is supposed to be the worlds most advanced fighter.

Re: What's the best fighter jet?

F35B feels a bit bloated to fly relatively, the J-10 can basically lose anything with just it's speed and small size.

Oh yeah, whenever I have a teammate who is being chased by a J-10 I just go ahead and keep a constant lock on on the J-10 just to scare it off. I get bored otherwise flying around in circles repetively. Plus they'll fly around scared for a good few minutes even after you leave them.

Re: What's the best fighter jet?

Most advanced doesn't necessarily mean most manouverable, and this game in no way models the real world. A mig 21 can out-turn an F16 in the right conditions and air combat is all about the pilot, not the plane he flies. In BF2 though the laws of physics and jet fighter operation have been massively simplified. I imagine that might have something to do with trying to fly on a map the size of a postage stamp

I've noticed:
1. The J-10 has a superior turning radius.
2. The F-35 has a greater top-speed (1350 with A/B - smokin!)

I'm sure there are others, but I haven't noticed.
But given this, the Dalian Plant map is a place where the F-35 pilot wants to break and run until his wingman can help him out. With pilots of equal skill, the J-10 has an advantage that is large enough to be exploited for teh win.

OH!!! But the F-35 can HOVER!!! Which is the biggest tactical advantage of all!! Cuz it means you can stop dead in the sky and sit there like a turret ... waiting for the missiles to home in on you.
Seriously - why did EA even put that in there? Just to make room for 2 planes on the carrier??? sheesh.

Is that specific to the J-10? Or wouldn't you do that anytime - whether they're in a J-10 or other jet?

No I normally kill them if they're in another jet.

And birdie I don't use a joystick

Re: What's the best fighter jet?

Birdie - the throttle control is "centered." That means that center-position is neutral. Anything forward of that is faster. Anything behind that is "air brakes/reverse/hover(F-35)".
When you get in the jet, make sure your throttle is centered.

Re: What's the best fighter jet?

Like what StrikeFear have stated, it seems J-10 has a bit more agility than the F-35B. It also seems to me that the J-10 has more acceleration power (with afterburner) than the F-35B when taking off on the airways.

Make sure that in the settings page you push your throttle forward for throttle up and down for throttle down. It'll say the correct axis either way, but it'll be backwards if you don't do it that way.
