Darn AFK players! Sorry.

I just wanted to throw up a post to apologize to people playing on server #2 last night. I was on there goofing around with 2 other players in the afternoon and I got drawn away to do some real life stuff.

About 4 hours later, I came back to my computer and noticed that I was still connected. The server was full, and I was now the squad leader of the Alpha squad. I'm sure many people joined that squad in the meantime and wondered where I was. Sorry!

Heh. Happens to me, too. When the wife busts in to the room i better drop everything or we got a problem brewing Like last night...I decided to put my foot down (she wanted me to get off after 90 mins) and I got burned! They just have a way of making you feel like crap even if you didn't do anything. Evil! Pure Evil!

You know, it would be nice to be getting some warm squishy right now, but I rather enjoy having time to do all my computer stuff with no nagging.

Re: Darn AFK players! Sorry.

a fast way out is to hit the tilde key (~) to bring up the console and type quit

much faster than waiting on the menu after hitting Esc

Nice tip! That would help me avoid things like last night, where I hit ESC, waited, hit Quit, then got popped back to the "Join Game" screen. It was late, but the map was already loaded, so obviously I was meant to play just one more game.

Take it from me the warm and squishy gets farther and farther apart. Keep your computer dry and all will be well, lol!

I just need to deal with it more effectively until she graduates and starts her medical field. She wants to work the 3rd shift, which you have no problem getting in the medical field. So I'll have plenty of alone time...which she has a hard time understanding that is what I need..we're newly married. It's like she expects me to be next to her all night..even if that means I'm bored out of my mind

I wonder if that gives the game a chance to shut down properly? Being a windows game you would hope.

XP is pretty good about clearing out memory when a program abnormally crashes/is closed.

Alone time does not mean the time that you spend away from her at work either. Alone time means good quality ME time, i dont think that spending 6+ hours with the gf and 2 hours playing BF2 every night is unfair... or is that just me being a guy?

I would agree...but most women won't. The time with her doesn't count unless she *wants* it at that time, I think. Otherwise, you're just wasting your time

I compromised with my wife that I play Wednesday and Saturday evenings, period (unless of course we have plans), and any other night is just happenstance if she is busy, napping, etc...

Yes you are right. It's not the amount of time, it's about whether they want attention or not.

If my wife is busy (hanging out with her twin, watching TV, etc.) I can game FOREVER.

If not, I better have told her about the game first, and make reparations somehow. Like the HOC thing this week. Since I've been playing BF2 the past couple of nights, and tonight is a practice, I'll be AFK until at least late friday night.
