Bunny Hopping?
Hello all! First off - this place ROCKS! I discovered TG through another site with a thread titled "The best place to play BF2". Well I have been lurking around for a couple weeks and playing on the servers. What you guys have here is an awesome community and I am amazed at how well run everything is. There is obviously a tremendous amount of work done to make this place what it is. So...with that said, I have a question.
What does TG consider bunny hopping? I remember in CS (1.1) you go could run almost faster while jumping at the same time. I don't want to bend/break any SOP's here but I do have the tendency to jump a couple times if someone in close combat has a bead on me. Bad habits die hard... I am unsure as to if you would think of this as bunny hopping. Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks and see you around!!! This is BY FAR the best place to play BF2. I hope in the near future to become a SM. Password nights are worth $9 just for a couple hours of play - let alone an entire month of reserved slots! |

Re: Bunny Hopping?
I would say its bunny hopping and after a few kicks or lashings from an admin will stop you real quick. Otherwise welcome.

Re: Bunny Hopping?
That does sound like it to me. Really any attempt to avoid being shot by the use of jumping (especially continuous jumping) is counted as bunny hopping / crack jumping.
If you are running away and jump to get over an obstacle and into cover, that would be fine however. And of course welcome to TG

Re: Bunny Hopping?
Thanks for the replies. You have answered my question. To bad in my first post I admit to breaking a SOP.
I will either rebind my jump button or tape up the thumb to make it hard to tap the space bar. |

Re: Bunny Hopping?
Also, you do not have to be a supporting member in order to play on the Wednesday and Saturday password nights. Just visit the Rules/SOP forum and you'll see a thread called Wednesday and Saturday password nights. You'll find the password in that thread.
We do this to help prevent random people who don't know about TG and what it is about, from joining, so us people who do know can have an even better gameplay.

Re: Bunny Hopping?
I have been reading the SOP's but I was unsure as to what TG defines as bunny hopping, hence the question. I also played a little last night on the passworded server and I do agree to TG's standards. Fully. I did not want to take the chance I was breaking the rules as it was a blast to work with coordination between SL, CO and SL, mates.
It is not that I jump around like crazy to avoid fire - It is more of a reflex when taking unknown fire at close range. To jump and figure out where the shots are coming from and then take action/cover. I will avoid this tactic from now on. If I jump it is reflexes - but I know that you guys are not saying to just stand there and take fire. Move, take cover, go prone...just don't hop around like like a rabbit. Thanks again for clearing this up.

Re: Bunny Hopping?
Brew... it's a great first step to post your question with the intent to better understand our rules. There are many bad habits people pick up from other games and servers. It will take some practice but I'm sure you can un-learn the habit.

Re: Bunny Hopping?
If I am out of ammo and enemy is prone shooting at me, I might jump once but that is pure reflex lol, but it ain't bunnyhopping. Good thing with bunnyhoppers is, they are a good target for shotguns

Re: Bunny Hopping?
Just knowing is half the battle. The habit is already broken in a way. There is no way I would take the chance of not being able to play here.
When I play this evening I will just make a conscious effort. |
