Re: great scrim TG

Thanks for playing, guys. Our community needs to make some adjustments to get into hardcore competition mode for these scrims.

Well said.

I had fun in spite of the style differences. I would much prefer a larger game though.

I hope to see some 16 vs 16 TG-style games one day.

Re: great scrim TG

Don't worry about the hardware probs CATIA, if it hadn't been that for you then you woulda had to wait for me instead - took 3 reboots to fix a sound problem that I've never had before (timing is everything...).

Was good fun last night (apart from dodging suicide car bombs which was a little frustrating). I personally think I sucked last night - it's so much harder to control small teams. Heck it was getting so bad I thought my squad name was jinxing me, so I changed it to my normal one for a bit of luck for the 4th game.

Then my connection went screwy for game #5, and I had like a half second ping

(I hope to see some 32v32 TG-style games one day!)

They were using suicide car bombs?

Sorry, but that is totally lame.

Actually, from a tournament point of view (and I'm not saying its cool), it makes sense: One SF with C4 for one tank.

Re: great scrim TG

Match play (tournament style) is very different (and acceptable) than the way we play here at TG.

I wouldn't consider it "pubby" necessarily. When i think of the term pubby I think of lone-wolf, rambo, Tker, vehicle camper, UCB raper, stat whore.

The tournament style play is to use any means necessary that the game provides to win the round.

Well I don't want to inflame people here, so if possible I'd like to continue the discussion without that happening..

Anyways, I see your point, BUT, by that same reasoning, any tactic that is effective should be allowed in a team match. So then what is wrong with bunny hopping, spawn camping, UCB camping/stealing, ramming etc.etc. the list goes on....

IMHO, any tactic that intentionally uses suiciding is simply wrong, because this would eventually reduce your manpower to a point that the tactic actually has a negative effect. Of course in a video game you can just respawn, so this does not hold, but again that same reasoning can be applied to exploiting of ALL kind... after all, its just a video game!!

Personally, I find that suicide car bombing takes little or no skill to pull off, and organized matches are usually a competition of team skill and strategy, not who can pull off the cheapest kills!

Don't hate me! Its just my opinion =)

Love,

Rin

This is the incorrect. If it gives the team an edge, no matter how little skill it takes to do it, it makes sense to use it. The bottom line is victory or defeat, not how much skill you show.

I don't enjoy it, but I accept it. Only the design of the game itself can change it. TG is a sheltered paradise, and you can't expect to force "clan" players to follow our rules.

The only way to eliminate the use of those tactics is to prove them ineffective, and I believe that in BF2 you can do that to some degree. We will see...

Re: great scrim TG

i agree with the suicide style kills being annoying. nothing annoy me more than seeing people doing that, but like some of the guys said in leagues/ladders you do whatever it take to win lame or not. We only use this tactic to kill the heavy armor, and it kind of make sense buggy killing a tank is a win for the buggy team. Trust me if you guys join any ladder/league you will find teams using this tactic and other so called LAME tactics like the bunny hop or use the nade launcher on the assult kit.

would you guys like to do one round of 8v8 and the 2nd round 12v12? we'll pick the map for the 8v8 and you guys pick the 12v12 map. let me know, cya next week all
