stupid questions about commanding

As i now have a mic im gonna try my hand at commanding a little more often, but before i did that i wanted to know how i talk to:

1) Every squad leader
2) One particular squad leader
3) Every soldier?

Also is it possible to see the names of people in squads? This would come in handy because if i see a very competent SL, id want him to do the harder stuff.

Re: stupid questions about commanding

every squad leader is "V"

im not sure about one particular, but i find it the best if you talk to all the SLs at once, but say "squad 1 blah blah" that informs the other squad leaders about whats going on in the map inadvertantly.

the closest to talking to all the soldiers is your team talk button and typing.

thats about all the info i can give about CO, im sure youll get some great responses by morning =)

PS cant wait to see you giving me orders =D

Recommendation

I recommend avoiding all things related to or affiliated with fancyness. I attempted a fancier plan on that irritating level with the tower (the name escapes me), and learned to never ever undergo greedy plans to take out all enemy bases. Conservative tactics win out it would seem.

I believe you can target only -one- squad if you click off their voice in the menu. But I think it is ultimately more useful to say it to everyone so they know what the other squads are up to. As long as you don't chatter too much, I have that habit at times and I suspect it is irritating in the heat of battle.

Re: stupid questions about commanding

Select a squad on the left frame and press "B" to to talk to just that squad (I think)

Also you can turn of comms to squads as well, not sure exactly the affect it has though. Just know that there is a speaker icon yo ucan click on to turn them on/off.

The only way I know of to talk to only one squad is to first turn off all of their comms except for the one you want to talk to. So essentially, there is no practical way to speak to only one squad.

Hey Santa, why did you change your name? I thought your old name was hilarious.

Re: stupid questions about commanding

I have a Q. Is it possible for a SL to talk privately to another Sl instead of having to go through the CO? This would be very convenient as SLs can coordinate their attacks or defense. Any idea?

Only one way; Teamspeak Relay System (but it works best for regular squads/arranged meetings)

Re: stupid questions about commanding

Good to hear you finally got a mic!

I pretty sure there isn't a way for the CO to talk to anyone other than SLs. Echoing what other ppl said above, generally the best thing to do is say "Squad X - I need you defending here" "Squad Y - incoming from the north", etc... It's hard enough to manage the battle just doing that without muting everyone else's lines.

And as SL I always like to know if we're attacking a point with another squad, so I can have my squad attack from a different direction.

Looking forward to playing with the new and improved Santa.

Re: stupid questions about commanding

Team names -

If yougo to the 'squads' screen you get the CO screen of course. However if you load up the kit screen, and then click squads you get the normal squad list that the CO screen normally overwrites.

My advice is to have pen and paper ready to note down the squads, and work from that.

Re: stupid questions about commanding

tthis has been answered in a previous thread, but buried under a different topic title. I can't remember which one but..

It's been tested that you can select squads to talk to by pressing the number key for the aquad, or CTRL+number to select multiple squads.

It's not been tested but I suspect perhaps pressing 1 then SHIFT+9 you select all squads inbetween too, A'La rome total war unit selecting.

Then, 'B' to talk to those selected.
