TK Punish system

Is the TK punish system on the severs modified? If so, how?

Tonight I was flying around w/ StrikeFear in the MEC bomber on Kubra Dam. Several times, the missles got a mind of their own and went after team vechiles ignoring the lock or people were standing nearby and got hit. I think I probably had 5-6 TK's, and got "punished" for 2 (before I could even hit the sorry button, but whatever). It's not like I was blindly spamming the missles, nor does my B&W tv view give me a good idea of who's around a vehicle I'm aiming at. After those 2 punishes, I was kinda hesitant to use the missles because I was afraid that a 3rd would get me booted. Can anyone tell me the treshhold? It was a moot point, because our fighter was stolen shortly after that 2nd punish and we spent the rest of the map chasing that (kinda sucks when you're outnumbered in the air 3 to 1).

Now, when I've been TK'd, sometimes I'll get the option to punish, sometimes not. I really can't figure out how the game decides whether or not I get the option. Unless a teammate kills me with malice, I forgive when given the option anyways, so I don't much care. Yes, that has happened a time or two here..

When I play on other servers that have the TK punish option on, I always get the option to punish or forgive. And when I play on servers with the option off, I never get the prompt. So I'm kinda curious, how do the TG servers decide when to give the prompt?

Land mines, Vehicle Collisions, and Artillery aren't punished. It's caused by a script that was written by Pokerface.

Ah, ok. Now I know what to pay attention to, as before it seemed completely random.

Vehicle collision = getting run over, right? Not just two vehicles running in to each other?

Hehe, those bomber missles need to be excluded too! That camera view combined with the fact that it seems like friendly vehicles are highlighted too, makes firing those missles pretty tough. Especially tonight... Lock on, fire, tk 3 guys somehow. I don't think I could intentionally TK someone if I wanted to!

I always forgive tk's whenever im playing on TG, unless they do it more than once blatently on purpose, I feel insulted to be punished for an accidental grenade kill as we are all mature individuals who should accept that we sometimes make mistakes and forgive your fellow player,

edit: and yeah vechile collsion includes accidently running your teammates down

Vehicle TK is so screwed, you can get killed by a jeep that is barely moving and all, so stupid.

also watch out for supply crates on slopes (*whistles* oh yeah, that felt GOOD!)


It is rare on TG that TK's get punished I feel, much to the credit of people here knowing that others have only done it by accident. Last time I got punished was a couple weeks ago, where I threw a grenade into a flag sand barrier thing, and a guy from my team just seemed to go into doggy mode and went to fetch it. He was right next to me so should have seen and heard my action.

Got the guy hiding by the flag and the one on my team. Shook my head in disbelief when I saw the punish message come up...

BTW you should know that enemy's stealing fighters is against the SOP and can subject the offender to a warning and a kick by an admin. Next time be prepared to get an admin on TS for the required moderation.

Neg on the vehicle collisions. Just artillery and mines (of both flavors).

Other than that, tk_punish is stock.

Only if from a UCB. Otherwise like any other vehicle it is up for grabs. (Helo in middle of Zatar Wetlands and Jet at south of Op. Clean Sweep spring to mind as capturable non-UCB vehicles)

Ok, so arty and mines are auto-forgiven. I'll keep my eye on that.

What's the threshold for being kicked by punished teamkills? Was I really close to being kicked with 2 punished teamkills?

The whole punish system in BF2 is wacky and quite unlike any other game I've played, but I guess that's for a different discussion.
