Dynamic map size
http://bf2.fun-o-matic.org/index.php/Scripts:AutoMap
Are we going to test it, or are we waiting for the admin tools? |

Re: Dynamic map size
Is dynamic map sizing in play now? The "off" hours on the 64 player maps are brutal with 8 vrs 8 but could be fun in a smaller map. This may also be a solution to the European player issue, where the map size could be small enough to make it fun until enough people join to get a full server.

Re: Dynamic map size
This script is running on the GWJ server, though we won't have enough folks on to see if it really works until Thursday. If you guys don't check it out before then, I'll try to remember to come back and let you know if it worked, if it crashed, etc.

Re: Dynamic map size
I'd be interested to see how the script handles players leaving the server. If a round ends and players leave, the remaining players would want the map size changed. I looked at the script and it does the check at the end game so the size change might not take effect until one map later.

Re: Dynamic map size
I think thats the only way you can do it. No one knows whos leaving while the map is loading, and I certainly wouldn't want:
"Finished Loading... Verifying Info..." "Not enough players, reloading 32 player map" "Finished Loading... Verifying Info" "Players Over forty, Loading 64 player Map" "Finished Loading..." Even if we have to suffer through one map thats too big, thats better than suffering through Maps that are ALWAYS too big after 10pm. |
