On Spawn Camping.
Bommando's explination of spawn-camping in the latter post about grey areas posted by Santa had me thinking that some people need a bit of explination. First of all, I'd like to state this:
Quote:
Spawn camping is clearly addressed above and does not need any other explination. Secondly: Quote:
I'd like to argue that point with the admin, if that's possible for me to do. I don't see why, if I am in the general area of the structure, I cannot walk in and attack it on my way to another flag the commander has sent me to. Is that against the rules? Should I just ignore the structures and continue on to the flag? Feedback please. Thirdly: Quote:
4) All players are HEAVILY ENCOURAGED BY ORDER OF THE ADMIN to FOLLOW ORDERS from their squad leader and commander. Or: 4) All players are REQUIRED to FOLLOW ORDERS from their squad leader and commander if they are both within bounds of quality gameplay. A while back, I played Mashtuur City with a squad of 5 other people. Full squad. We were defense of a flag that was getting hit every time we left it. We attempted to push forward 3 times, and every time the commander sent us back to the flag after it got captured. This, to me, made no sense, so I simply ordered my squad to move out a little from the flag, set up a defense, and hold it. The commander, whose name I'll not mention, got angry at me and told me, without audio, that we HAD to push forward. I asked him of he was going to send me back to the flag we were holding again and he replied with a blunt, "No.". We moved forward, and took the closest flag to us and the flag we had just left fell again. The commander changed our orders from attacking the flag we'd just took, to defending the flag we'd just left. At this point, I moved my squad back to that flag, set defense orders, and ignored every order the commander gave us after that. Did I make the right decision? Was I wrong to do what he was going to tell me to do, without the annoyance of moving back and forth? What would you do in this situation? -Mom

Re: On Spawn Camping.
You must follow the commander's orders. Commanders must follow orders which can be obeyed. If you see a problematic PATTERN in a commander, notify an admin privately (don't bitch in TS that you're not happy in this game -- If there's a pattern, send a PM and realize problems don't get solved overnight).
If you disobey a CO's orders, you'll be subject to removal of one flavor or another. We're sorry if you get a "bad" CO, but them's the breaks. The text you quoted doesn't say you need CO's orders to attack assets in a UCB. It says you need CO's authorization. Whether that authorization comes in tacit consent or explicit orders matters not.

I hate it when that happens.. but that doesnt mean you can defy orders. At that point you need to look at a mutiny or talk to the comm about stepping down. Something. But you can just not do what the commander says, even when it isnt the brightest move. I would have told the commander that the place I(you) was at was too hot to move out of and stay and defend it. It is a tricky thing. But if no one has to follow the commander unless they feel like it then no one ever will and we might as well play on ranked servers.. |

Re: On Spawn Camping.
You follow orders. It may suck but that is the life of a subordanate. It is in the rules and you agree to them everytime you log onto the server. Don't like them then go play on one of the 1500 or so other servers. Or just do something else until a new CO is charge.
