The same way we do now, by tickets. BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT the reason you REACH this win condition is because you captured and held control points, taking them from the enemy and keeping the enemy off of them.

To illustrate, an admittedly radical example: On a given non-ticket-bleed map, the OpFor team all goes sniper and sits at the fringe of the map while the US holds every control point. Every one. OpFor picks off defenders here and there while rarely getting found themselves, never capping a flag. The round ends with OpFor having 50 tickets and US having 0.

Who won? Did they complete the map objectives? Was it a TG-style win?

The first line clearly states that tickets are the main objective.
A distinguishment that I don't believe some people quite understand. There is game main objective, and TG main objective. For the game main objective, it's about reducing the enemy tickets to zero by any means possible within the confines of the game. The TG main objective is to reduce the enemy tickets to zero through a series of strategic accomplishments. I don't consider high body count a strategic accomplishment. This is what sets the TG community apart from the rest, and why I play here.

If someone feels that the only thing that matters at the end of a game is ticket count, perhaps they should re-examine what brought them to this community to begin with.

Re: Calm discussion of CP jet-stealing

I think we know the two general camps on this issue and I'm all for mature discussions of subjects of this nature, but isn't it about time to lock this thread? There really isn't much more to discuss about this.

Re: Calm discussion of CP jet-stealing

I only read the first 4 pages of the thread, the arguement was getting pretty redundant by then. I see the same theme over and over. The maps are the problem, not the people playing or the rules.

Cymba pointed out that this one issue is only brought about because of your rule against going into UCBs.

TG isn't ranked, so why don't you just change the maps? Yes, I know easier said than done, but why not a TG map pack that has modified versions of all the maps. Give both sides UCBs, or take them away all together. Adjust the amount of ticket bleed, so holding more flags is a quicker way to victory than the meat grind we currently have.

It just seems that the poorly designed maps that EA graced us with are causing far more frustration around here then they need to.

Re: Calm discussion of CP jet-stealing

This discussion has gone full circle several times and it's time that we close this and move on. In closing, here are a few last comments.
  1. Some maps do provide a natural imbalance to the game by providing a UCB to one team and not to others.
  2. The addition of our UCB rules inflate this imbalance even further.
  3. No new rules are going to be created at this time.
    • And no official rules were actually broken.
  4. Tactical Gamer has always been about mature, objective based, team oriented play.
    • Tactical Gamer's idea of "objective" does often vary from the public idea of objective and this is one thing that sets us apart. Winning isn't everything, playing towards TG objectives are. In respect to the BF2 maps, the TG objective is to capture and hold the necessary flags to cause ticket bleed.
