My first night.... wow
Hey there guys,
Just wanted to share some of my first impressions with you all, last night I logged in the TG server BF2 #1 for the first time, and I must say I am impressed ![]() At first I was a bit lost, after all it was my second day at playing BF2. I joined what appeared to be an infantry squad, and took the role af o Support unit (first becouse I like that big gun, and second becouse I can help trowing some ammo packs). Even tough I couldn't kill a thing, and would find myself alone in the middle of nowhere for the most part, it was an enjoyable session. We won that map. The second map was a bit chaothic. At first I joined another infantry squad, and kept myself to support role. This time I managed to nail a few rounds on some of the opposing units, as well as accidentally dropping a grenade at a team member (oops). We where holding a building and I kept providing ammo, until our commander swept the area in front of us with artillery, and we moved on for the capture. That was when it got a little crazy for me. As our commander either dropped or resigned. After a few minutes of no comander, I applyed for the command of the army, and was mostly surprized to be accepted. I hid myself on our base and started to look around for the command window. I pressed every key on the keyboard until I finally asked on the chat for how to open the commander interface :P Finally, now that map looks familiar, I'm a big fan of RTS games, so I felt a little bit at home. I managed to drop a few artillery on some of my own troops (oops2) until I got a bit used to the interface. Now I am really sorry for you squad leaders and members last night, as I kept changing orders, sending you to walk in circles a couple of times. I am very sorry for this, but you did well and we won by an 8 ticket difference. After this experience, I realized I needed more knolage of how the battle develops in the thick of things, and decided to get back to an infantry squad before attempting at commander again. I am sorry for those misplaced artillery shots, and I am sorry for giving crazy orders, but what surprized me was that you followed them, and we managed to win somehow, great work you guys did on the ground. The third match was a blast, as I joined an infantry chopter unit, and we tried to capture a building (looked like a factory) coming from the mountain behind it. Again, I took the support kit, and kept trying to feed my buddies with ammo. I managed to fall off the cliff and die inumerous times, but it was all fun. We finally got down there and our squad leader hid himself in a building next to our target. At this point I decided to get more serious and switched to Assault. Oh boy that grenade launcher is cool. I then tried a medic role, but got frustrated when running with my shock pads towards a dead allie, just to be pounded by hundreds of bullets and die myself. The map ended, we lost. Thanks a lot for our sqad leader and my squad buddies on this one, it was a blast playing on that last match. After all I must say I will stick to TG servers and never look back, even tough I have a lot to lear, I felt like I was making a difference, helping the team get the objectives done. If I did anything wrong (besides the misplaced shells) please let me know, I look foward to playing tonight.

Paging asch....paging asch....ahh, the hell with it.
Welcome! Glad you had a great first run! And a CO on the first day too! Always good to have another potential CO. As you can tell, we're a bit different from the rest of the online gaming world. Pull up a chair, make some coffee, read the SOPS: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlefield-2-official-rules-announcements-sops/ And put them into practice! Look forward to seeing you on the field of battle....can't wait to introduce you to your ancestors.

Re: My first night.... wow
welcome to TG! im glad you enjoyed youself, though commanding is a rather stressful role even for the most veteran player, take the time to familiarise yourself with the maps and it will get a whole lot easier
see you on the battlefield |

Re: My first night.... wow
aaah he is lucky... 2nd day in the battlefield and found TG.
After Katrina my internet service provider is having some hard time... During the rush hour (evenings) the connection speed drops like a rock from a cliff. Hopefully soon everything will be fine and I get to play some lag free passworded nights |

Re: My first night.... wow
Let me tell you, it was scary seeing the CO ask how to get in to the CO screen!
I was flying that round on Kubra Dam, and the Jets squad SL was some lonewolf (I should have said something on TS to an admin) that never visited the airfield and wasn't on VOIP, so I don't know if you were directing the jets to bomb someplace, or thought we were an infantry squad and wanted us to take a flag. I think you were in my squad in one of the previous rounds.. If it was your first time playing, I didn't know it! Glad you're having fun

![]() As for the squad, I tough you where infantry with air support, tough I would prefer the jets to stay on their own squad. I was surely ordering you to cap the flag. As for the squad you where leading with me on it, well, you didin't know, but would that make a difference? I mean, the combat seems so chaothic that I just tought "I will do my best" instead of asking questions (except the CO panel one, that one I was really clueless about). I hope I can play more with you.
