Reserved Slot System

Firstly let me show my appreciation for this group. Tactical Gamer is the necessary player community to complete the design the makers of BF2 envisioned. Without it I would not still be playing.

This thread is a request for a more detailed explanation of the reserved slot system. While I was glad to provide my financial support of Tactical Gamer to further its reach, this system is a very attractive fringe benefit. Unfortunately tonight on my first attempt to use it, Wed. password night, I am unable to join. This could be since I am a new member or that the server is already full of members. These are my guesses but I would appreciate an overall explanation of how the system works from its administrators if possible to know.

Thanks. You may know me by my old BF2 username Tadpole_Angel5.

Re: Reserved Slot System

first you must be on teamspeak....when you join you just basically say "this is ABRA can i get a spot on server (what ever)" they will let you know or u can just ask for an admin right away and they will answer...that simple..

the password nights are still reserved for SM..i think...same procedure....

being a new member has nothing to do with it...you are just as important to this community as me or ne one else who is...

look forward to shooting you in game.

Re: Reserved Slot System

You misinterpreted the reserved slot system SOP. It is not in place yet. If you wanted to free a slot for you to join, you have to contact an admin via TeamSpeak.

Re: Reserved Slot System

Sarc is correct; I'm not done the reserved slot system yet. Well, I'm DONE, but I still need to test it out a bit more.

Right this second and until announced otherwise, you need to contact an admin (preferably on TeamSpeak) to have a slot opened for you. When the res-slot sytem is implemented, it will key off of the BF2 Profile ID you have registered in your forum profile, booting a non-SM player to make room for SMs.

Hmmmm, okay, So it will read "Pickle"...recognize me and then let me in? If so what if I log into the server as "{CG} Pickle"?

Re: Reserved Slot System

it works with your bf2 id mate (theres some tool that tells you that, in the SOP somewhere) not your forum nickname
you could log in as "badAzzMofoKillah" and it would recognize you :Y :Y (feel free to correct me if im wrong )

Re: Reserved Slot System

In your profile you should have a field labelled as BF2 ID. Entering your BF2 ID into this field gets it put on a list. When you join a TG server the computer will look up the BF2ID of the person that is joining, and then reference it against the list of BF2IDs that have been entered into the website. If it finds a match it can then tell if you are a SM or not.

If you are an SM then the server will search for a player that is not an SM and kick them. You then take this person's spot. So you see it's all done automatically. This is useful as under high load times we can make a spot (by kicking a non-SM) only for a random person with no knowledge to jump the gun and steal it.

In conclusion at the moment you have to jump on TS and request a spot, but soon it will be done automatically. And the guys are right, 1 day or 1000 days on here doesn't make a difference, all SM's are valued equally - after all your money is as good as everyone else's!

Well that's the simple explanation - the full details are quite ingenious, Poker's really very good at this!

THC is correct in his response, but I'll clarify it a bit.

The ID which we seek is the number tied to your profile. There's another thread around here somewhere that can help you find that.

But it's tied to the PROFILE, which means that "Pickle" would be OK and "{CG}Pickle" might not be (unless you update your forum profile before entering the server). So ONE of your profiles will be set for the server slots.

How often will your scripts check the forum BF2 IDs?
For instance, if I want to log in as a different profile, and so I go to the forum and change my BF2 ID there, then go login as that profile, should I expect it to get updated info from the forums?

But you know there is a downside, we will no longer be able to distract Tempus when he's commanding. He can't arty us while he's kicking a pubby. If that clock hadn't run out...

Re: Reserved Slot System

Right this second, it checks the list Apo made on every connect (I'm not certain if the list is live or cron'd). If this lags the server eats freaky amounts of bandwidth, the check will be made to be less frequent.

The interface I made for you to grab those BF2IDs is real-time. If someone changes their BF2ID in their profile it will be immediately available to the reserved slot script.
