Lightbulb New maps?

I was just wondering if TG would consider adding some custom maps into the rotation, if only for certain times/days. Or maybe having a custom map night once a week or something.

I have been playing custom maps recently because I have been getting a little bored with the same maps over and over, and I have enjoyed the experience of not knowing what is around the next corner, or even knowing if there is going to be another corner in these new maps.

I admit that many of the custom maps I have played are, shall I say, crap. But I have had the pleasure of playing on a few good ones, and I think some are good maps that are worthy of having TG put them to the test.

So, is this a possiblity? And if so, what custom maps would the TG community like to play? I am also interested in the custom maps you might have played and your opinions on them.

Re: New maps?

custom map night might be cool but i dunno if itd be implementable at all. Would be a nice change of pace though. if we did do that the first few weeks would be more of experimentation to see which maps blow and which ones are good.

Re: New maps?

I have tried downloaded every map since they have started to be released so I can do reviews on the maps and to be honest with you, they don't even seem finished. I haven't downloaded the ones released this week yet though, I need to get the reviews started so hopefully I will have something for you soon. I tried Smyrna was not impressed seemed too symmetrical. Mekong River, I hope you like swimming because that is all you do on this map and if you find a car good luck staying on the road through the jungle, way to small all you do is run into trees. Ill try to download the rest tonight if I have time and do some real reviews of the maps.

Re: New maps?

We've always been open to custom maps, however these maps need to promote the style of play that we enjoy here. Frag fest maps just don't cut it.

I've been looking at any custom map I can get my hands on and so far, not one is up to par, IMO.

Re: New maps?

My favorite custom map so far is Highway, nice big map. I have only played about 10 custom maps so far though, its hard to find populated servers running them.

Check out the mod forum for BF2, if you have any ideas post them. I have just been trying to finish a map from start to finsh, nothing fancy just seeing if I can finish a map. Most of the maps seem like they were rushed and not finished so I think it will take awhile before a good map is released.

Re: New maps?

Yeah i'm about ready for some new maps too. I know every nook on these 12 maps from sneaking around the last couple months. Be nice to find some nice new hiding spots on some fresh terrain.

Re: New maps?

I would be happy to see a few custom maps but as others have mentioned many are just not up to par.

I am looking foward to all the DC maps being ported over in the new mod, Desert Conflict. It is early days, I am sure it will just take time for a few good maps to be released.

Re: New maps?

I would really enjoy new maps once in awile. If we set up a special night that we tryed them out then it would be great, sort of like a demo night.

Re: New maps?

A few of us are evaluating custom maps... but none have really been up to par.

Re: New maps?

Wake Island which just has been released with the map-pack at totalbf2 is the only excellent map I have seen so far
