Can I use htaccess and php stuff on the SM webhosting?

Still not sure how to do the transparency. Anyone php image gurus have any ideas?
That just saved me 25 minutes goofing around in GIMP. BTW, all the options for kit come up "Assault" when you go to the final image.

Thanks!

Re: Battlefield 2 Modular Sig Design [56k Warning]

If you guys ever need a photohoster, use PhotoSpit.com It's practically limitless, and you don't have to pay for it. I've been using it for a few weeks, and it's alot easier then imageshack, especially in the freedom and stuff it gives you.

As for the tags, I love 'em. Thanks for putting on the hard work Xink.

You would need to use an old version of GD (1.3 I think) before the LZW patent came into play declaring ownership of all GIFs.

PNG is a superior format in a number of ways, but it seems Microsoft can't be bothered supporting it without some fancy CSS workarounds.

For now, you are better off maybe just placing the segments on a PNG slate of the same colour as the TG post BG colour: #CCCCCC. This way you give the illusion of transparency without the compatibility issues.
Well, IE will render PNG transparency if the PNGs are paletted, so you get the same functionality as GIF. What IE doesn't do is render the alpha-channel in RGBA PNGs. The LZW patent has now expired, IIRC.

Got a reply:

I always thought of Cav as cooler...thus the red and white shield and crossed saber's in the avatar. But to capture the essence of Armor is a different thing all together...I think of Old Ironsides.

So, do we have an "Fast Mover" specialist pic yet?

FYI, the LZW patent doesn't expire until August 2006. And the patent covers the compression used for the GIF format. This means that any software used to make GIF files must be licensed. The GIFs themselves aren't subject to the patent.

This may be asking for too much, but can you do some really awesome CS:S banner? Just a thought

Yes it is too much when I am still waiting for my ground pounder themed TG banner.

Re: Battlefield 2 Modular Sig Design [56k Warning]

keep the custom banners and flags rolling in, this stuff is great, everyone taking the parts they like and editing/adding bits they want, get the creative juices flowing and have a bash at making some more banners, im trying to get enough out the door so we all have something we like, but the banners in peticular take quite awhile to get looking right, ill do some more after work tomorrow and update you with any new material then

Re: Battlefield 2 Modular Sig Design [56k Warning]

Ok, fixed the little generator. Stupid case sensitivity.

I know about the IE bugs and such, but those are IE bugs, not me not knowing what to do bugs I use Firefox on Linux anyways, so it's not a problem of the PNG crap not working. I think it's more of a case of how I use imagecopy and the alpha properties disappearing. I think my host's libGD is 2.0.38 compatible which should deal with gifs. I cheated and used the tan background color instead, but it'd be nice to have the transparent junk working in case people wanna use the sigs elsewhere.

I could make the generator add your name someplace to the image.. The top right corner of the main banner seems like a good place.

Xinx (and everyone else), these look great. If we want to make minor personalizations, what fonts are you using for the basic elements?

The famous UNISYS LZW patent expired a couple of years ago. Which patent are you referring to that expires in 2006? That IBM one?
