Jeez, give a guy a chance to comment! Why do you mods close threads so quickly?
Just because you are done doesn't mean others don't have more to add!

So anyways:

Someone sadi this:
As soon as we go to our own stats systems...people will be playing to improve their stats instead of working as a team. It's the fundamental reason the ranked servers suck

I think that is false--I don't even look at my stats or think about them when I 'm playing....

And more: have you ever tried to ask for small donations, or use advertising on your website to pay for a ranked server?

Re: post closing

Me also too!

If you honestly don't care about numbers, then what would drive the desire for ranking??????????? (I can't possibly question enough, but I'll stop there)

Because you asked a question that's stickied elsewhere (since it's a FAQ). If you wish to discuss, please note the thread I linked to previously; there is no need for a new thread.

Why would we want to? As noted on the linked thread, ranked servers have several disadvantages which we are loathe to endure.

And with that... lock #2. Please do not start a new topic for a FAQ with an open thread.

Re: post closing

Hi M.baker - the reason why the thread was closed is because this has been talked about many times before. Everything you have asked has been debated, bemoaned, and concluded.

The threads that have been pointed to should give you a fair idea of the answers.

However as you seem a little confused I'll happily answer your comments (and then close the thread )

---------------

MB. But don't you have any ranked servers?
W. No, we do not.

MB. Let me clarify: I don't care about medals, or ribbons, but I like to feel as if I'm working towards something, plus I like to analyze my stats once in a while.
[i]W. We understand your point, and have been looking at a way to offer our own stats system. We have nothing in place for that at the moment, but we do cover the awards. We have developed our own ribbon system (you can see them in my and others' sigs) to award people that play well, so that they can have some extra sense of accomplishemnt. Overall however we feel that developing our teamplay can lead to us being successful in scrims. That is why you see many of us working hard on tactics and telling the rest of the community our 'trade secrets' - we want everyone to get better.

MB. If you offered ranked servers, I'd think about gracing you guys with my stellar bf2 skills......
W. We will almost certainly never offer ranked servers. This is because ranked servers must be on a par with all other ranked servers (and rightly so). As such many custom scripts and rules we have in place would not be allowed. We would just be another ranked server - if EA heard that we were forcing extra rules on the gamestyle they would remove our server.

MB. Jeez, give a guy a chance to comment! Why do you mods close threads so quickly? Just because you are done doesn't mean others don't have more to add!
W. Because this has been posted about a lot (and not just by mods but the whole community. Repeating it again is just a waste of time and space. This is not me trying to have a go at you (or anyone), but this discussion has reached a conclusion. If you wish to add something that you feel is a revolutionarily new idea then please search the forums as much as possible before posting. Sorry of that sounds agro - it is not meant to be, but we work hard to try and make all the FAQ type info as concise as possible, and all your points have been answered there.

MB. Someone sadi this:
As soon as we go to our own stats systems...people will be playing to improve their stats instead of working as a team. It's the fundamental reason the ranked servers suck

I think that is false--I don't even look at my stats or think about them when I 'm playing....

W. And the normal counter would be that just because you don't doesn't mean we wouldn't get flooded with stat whores. Then the admins would spend all their time kicking these people who broke our rules, and everyone who liked the set up we have here would go somewhere else. Except of course we wouldn't have additional rules as EA would have pulled the plug on us.

MB. And more: have you ever tried to ask for small donations, or use advertising on your website to pay for a ranked server?
W. We do - the Supporting Membership scheme asks for the small (in my opinion) donation of $8.95 per month

Thanks for posting here - we do value all of our community members, but please understand that this is not personal, it is just a topic that has gotten as far as it ever will go.

AND THE REST OF YOU STOP SPAMMING THE THREAD!!! - jeez every time I looked back to get a comment it had grown by two posts!

++edit
ack Poker locked it as I was writing it I see! Well I'll leave it here for reference purposes. Hopefully the next person that wants to post about it might find this post
