Re: Scrim Conduct Suggestions

I agree that we must uphold the standards of TG in-between rounds, but I belive that practicing before the matches could potentially violate Statement #3 of Sassy's original post:
"- Participants do not make movements on the map that would indicate a possible strategy, EVEN if that strategy is NOT the one to be used"

Practicing flying if you're a pilot would be fine, I guess, but practicing assaulting and defending the flags, and having a final look over them? Maybe not so sensible.

Pardon *me!* How tightassed people have become? Perhaps you need a refresher on the very principles that TG is built upon. From the Tactical Gamer Primer...

Quote:
Tactical Gamer was founded with a few very simple principles:

1) Create an environment conducive for mature gamers to enjoy the games they play without the everyday interference from the less-than-mature gamers.

2) Create an environment where there was mutual respect for your fellow gamers and where all members would be working together to advance the enjoyment of their hobby.

3) Support game play in a near-simulation environment. Where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing superior real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging advantages provided to players by the design of the game engine.
This is just an introduction. I suggest rereading the whole thing and committing it to heart. If this is considered 'tightassed' then I suppose that you and anyone else that refuses to accept and abide by it should find a community elsewhere that's more conducive to selfish indulgent behavior.

Wrong answer. You *will* wait until the issues are sorted out if you wish to participate. If you neither *can* nor *will* conduct yourself in a mature fashion, then you will be removed (temporarily? permanantly? up to you). Period.

Sometimes you just have to sit and be patient. That's not being tightassed... that's being a grownup.

What Mirf said! It is a game and it should be fun. But it wasn't!

I gotta admit, it was tough gettin out of the hotel without getting TK'ed on Maashtur, but the knife fights with the enemy at the Mosque were classic

Re: Scrim Conduct Suggestions

Interesting discussion. Admittedly, I am a new member to TG - however, I know immediately that if I had gone to my first scrim and seen what is described here in this thread - that scrim would very well be my last.

I decided to support TG because of its founding principles, and the clarity with which the goal of TG is stated (OK, so SugarNCamo also talks a good game). Behavior such as has been described is blatantly contrary to everything that is TG. During a scrim - the players are there to have fun.. and have fun they will. However, there a small group involved in that scrim that not only are there to have fun - but they HAVE TO WORK at it. The effort the Organizers, CO's and, SL's should be recognized with respectful behavior at all periods during the scrim.

If a player is incapable maintaining mature behavior during organized events, it might be a good time to allow that TG membership to expire and they are free to move on to a more juvenile collection of gamers.

I believe any decent player here is capable of allowing their persona to idle while they make use of the time preparing for the upcoming match.. Nothing worse than the pee-pee dance in your chair at the height of a skirmish!

OK, 'nuff said - my 2-cents.

This is actually what I am trying to prevent. I don't want new players to come online and see this type of activity and get the impression that this type of behavior is what we tolerate. It's not. The community purpose is to cater to mature adult players, or players that can at least act like mature adults. Some people just don't understand that. They like the gameplay they get here, but they lack understanding of the purpose of TG.
