Arrow TG Ribbon Nominations

To start, please see this page on awards:

http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...-2-awards.html

---------------------------------------------------------

Notes on Ribbons

Just an update on ribbon nominations. We are completely re-doing the way we track ribbon nominations and are trying to streamline the process. The new intention will be to cut down the wait time on awarding ribbons, providing they are approved. I know a lot of you think your nominations go ignored, but please rest assured that they definitely do not. Our new tracking method will also make it very easy for us to see all nominations for a person over any time period and that will factor into the awarding of the ribbon. For example, I know one guy who has been nominated 4 or 5 times for defense in like a 3 week period.

I would also like to give some advice when submitting nominations.

Be descriptive! Some write-ups are extremely detailed, it makes it very easy to award the ribbon because the person who sent it in put more than 10 seconds into writing it.

Cite examples on things the person did through the map/maps that helped you achieve your objectives. Did your medic provide key revives on assault or defense? Did your spec ops guy take out key bridges and keep them down the whole map, or keep enemy assets down? Did your squad leader use his squad effectively based on the kits he had to successfully take over a CP? Did your SL utilize resources successfully to defend a hot CP the whole round? Details, details! The more details you give the better the chances are that the ribbon will be awarded. Always try to include the date/time/map with your submissions.

Submit nominations even if you think someone else has done so. The more a person gets, the easier it is to have hard evidence of why that person deserves the ribbon. Don’t just assume someone else is submitting the nomination. If everyone does this, people won’t get the recognition they deserve. Nominations don’t have to be from “scrims only”, it can be from anytime you are playing on the TG server.

Here are some examples of the “right way” and “wrong way” to submit nominations.

Right way:

He has frequently been a part of my squad and has shown solid loyalty and discipline over the past months. When I am leading a squad he is the man that I count on the most.

He carries out orders quickly and efficiently and I have never heard him complain about any task he is assigned to. He always communicates effectively and calmly.

Today (Oct 17) on Dragon Valley he was part of the squad I was leading. We were tasked with defending the Chinese main base (refinery). We were frequently under attack from all angles by armour and infantry. He always communicated enemy movements and frequently advised the squad of how to operate. He did this WITHOUT undermining my authority as a squad leader. Whenever I gave him an order it was carried out quickly and effectively. He frequently went above and beyond the call of duty by volunteering for tasks that others may have found boring.

Occasionally I find myself leading a squad in which one of the members is constantly giving his own opinion on what we should do and how we should do it. This makes me feel uncomfortable as a Squad Leader. xxxxx always shows the SL respect by asking for his permission before he carries out any task he hasn't been specifically assigned to. By asking permission like this he is setting an example for other squad members to follow. This allows the SL to feel more confident and IN CONTROL of his squad.

He has a very pleasant and friendly manner. He welcomes new members to the squad and is very patient with them. Today (Oct 17) on Mashtuur, a new member joined our squad. This person seemed very young and inexperienced but xxxxx was extremely helpful to this person. He displayed the epitome of TG play by is maturity and teamwork.

On one of the maps today my squad was getting slaughtered. Whenever we spawned we would be bombed or artillery would land on us. Whenever we did stay alive long enough to move toward our objective I (the SL) would end up getting killed. This process would repeat over and over. I was beginning to get frustrated by the constant bombings etc. Despite the pounding our squad was receiving xxxxx managed to change the mood of our squad. He cracked a few jokes and had us all laughing as artillery explosions launched our bodies high into the sky. He did not get annoyed by me constantly calling for him to revive me. When I apologized for dieing all the time he would make excuses for me and made me feel much more comfortable and relaxed.

xxxxx shows what TG is all about by his ability to carry out orders, by being disciplined and loyal and conducting himself in a friendly and helpful manner always.

xxxxx deserves recognition for his Conduct and is an excellent example to all tacticalgamers.

I chose this example because I feel it’s the absolute best submission we have had. They don’t all have to be that detailed, but something like this is a “no brainer” when it comes to issuance. I don’t care if there are a few misspellings or grammar issues, not everyone speaks English as a native language.

Wrong way:

Quote:
I believe xxxxx deserves distinguished support because he gave us a lot of ammo on karkand.

xxxxx deserves good conduct because he did what I told him to do.

xxxxx deserves the medic award because he revived me a lot.

xxxxx for their defensive actions.

xxxxx is a good SL, he controls is squad well.
You get the idea. We’re not asking you to write a book, but some good details go a long way when it comes to awarding ribbons.

Beatnik deserves the Good Conduct ribbon because he lays very still when I try to knife him.

I'm a little slow. Is that a good one???

Re: TG Ribbon Nominations

Hardy frikken har har. I think that's more of a Distinguished Volunteer ribbon myself.

Seriously though, we could see a lot more ribbon nominations coming in for all the outstanding play I see day in and day out on our servers. If someone's performance stands out to you after a good game, take a moment to PM an admin with a nomination!

Re: TG Ribbon Nominations

Also keep in mind that the actual award of a ribbon has a multitude of factors involved. Only one of which is how good of a player the individual is. You can have someone that is phenominal in attack helos and racks up kill after kill. This alone does not mean they will be awarded the ribbon. Personal conduct and positive interaction with the TG community as a whole also plays a VERY important part in the voting of many individuals on our admin team.

Re: TG Ribbon Nominations

Just in case the long nomination JMJ posted is scaring you off as it does me, keep in mind that short nominations will also be recorded and will contribute to people eventually getting ribbons. The important thing is that you state some relevant evidence. If you don't have strong examples or the motivation to create a long write-up, then you shouldn't shy away from submitting a nomination.

Short example nomination:
Quote:
I would like to nominate TNT for a Distinguished SL ribbon because I have been in his squad 5 times this month and every time he
- made sure we knew our objectives
- kept us in good formations
- payed attention to our kit selections
- adapted our tactics to achieve our objectives

His attention to the job made it very enjoyable to be in his squad every time.
Any similarity between TNT and a real player is purely coincidental.

Exactly. I was just trying to point out the two extremes of information. Also, what Apophis said is very true. A person's character and adhereing to TG standards also comes into play.

Re: TG Ribbon Nominations

I think what I will do form now on when I'm playing is have a sheet of paper near by and just write the name and description of anyone that I saw do something worthy of recognition. This should help me remember better the distinguished acts people perform.

Its quite easy to take for granted the great things members of TG do because we just get so acustomed to a top class performance.

A question: Is it ok to nominate people multiple times for the same award if you have had another noteworthy experience with them? For example; Jimbo Jones has been an excellent medic for ages so I recommend him for an award. Two days later he revives my whole squad with one zap of the shock paddles and saves the day. Would it comlicate things to add more to your recommendation after you have already sent it?

The more information that you provide the better the chance that the award will be approved. We can add to any nomination that is submitted. If for example you nominate Jimmy for medic and three others did the same, we will combine all into the same thread. Questions?

If you see someone do great things multiple times, it's good to submit that. it shows consistency and shows why they should get the award.

I have my Nostromo on a pad of paper that I use to jot things down. Print Screen is also good too.

Re: TG Ribbon Nominations

I dont understand the difference between distinguished air and distinguished jet combat. People have gotten distinguished air while in jets, so im currently very confused.

Also i used to give full squads the outstanding defense ribbon in scrims when they realy deserved it. Do i now just give them outstanding unit ribbon?

Maybe air can include jets, helicopters and air defense?

The outstanding unit ribbon can only be awarded by a CO.

I noticed the ribbons page is redirecting to the main TG page now. Maybe something to do with the upgrade?

Re: TG Ribbon Nominations

The jets is for jets, and the air is for copters. Please, no one go changing your ribbons yet. We are going to work this issue out so people have the right ribbon.
