acceptable orders?

I think its nice to assign a squad to jeeps, and then ask them to hold in some non-active part of the map so i can dispatch them immediately when I do need them.. i find that timing can be critical in many cases, and squads are typically slow to respond.. i don't need them anymore by the time they are ready to move out.

Sometimes this is true of jets and helos as well... at times its good to let them loose just to bleed tickets, but other times I want them orbiting so I can get very fast response times rather than having to wait for reload etcera.

I also frequently like to give "banzai" orders.. ie get on that flag now, all of you. It is very effective at breaking stalemates, yet I realize many will likely die in the process and some may be reluctant to participate i this "suicide charge" mentality.

Are these types of orders from a CO acceptable?

Re: acceptable orders?

I don't see anything unacceptable there as long as it's properly explained.

In respect to the Reinforcement squad, as long as you use them, and communicate your vision, you should be fine. If they sit too long, you may have attrition from that squad as people leave to move to the front. I have had that on maps like Dragon Valley where I dedicate my squad to defending the Chineese Main. Communication with that squad is key to let them know what is going on

In terms of Suicide orders. The downside is that if they do not get the flag, then you lose the momentum and about a couple minutes of regroup time as the squad has to march back. It's High Risk, High Reward. It has it's place but should not be the only way to do it.

Re: acceptable orders?

When I'm in a helo squad, I enjoy getting any orders from the commander. If a helo squad is told to hold a position and wait for orders, that is perfectly fine since the range of the TV missle allows the helo to engage at long ranges, no matter where it is "holding" on the battlefield, and it is highly mobile as long as it is not engaged in a helo to helo dog fight. Too often the commander, in my experience, ignores the helo squad and just lets them roam around. But Helo + ground squad = lots of captured flags.

Re: acceptable orders?

The only order that makes me sigh is when more than two or three squads are ordered to take a flag. There is no room to manouver and your squad can become disorganised. I prefer being able to see some sort of frontline and I don't like other friendly squads getting in the way. Sending two squads to one flag can be OK in my opinion. I hate it when battles get to the stage where everyone is charging all over the place and its just an unorganised mess.

A better idea would be if the commander would coordinate the attack between two squads. For example have one squad set a base of fire and draw enemy defenders attention while squad 2 flanks from a different direction. Once there is three squads all attacking the same point it get very difficult.

I accept that there may be occassions where it is necessary for more than two squads to be at the same point.
