Wow, thanks for that link. Was getting a maximum of 12kbps from the usual download locations.

I think the 1.12 patch was totally pointless. It's a 280mb download that is completely USELESS for BF2 (non-SF) players. The only noticable difference we see is the progress bar working.

If you've installed the 1.12 update to the "core" Battlefield 2 product and then installed Battlefield 2: Special Forces afterwards, you will need to re-apply the 1.12 update to be able to play on the new 1.12 Servers."

beware, you need 3 GB free disk space on your SYSTEM partition to get this patch installed the easy way! i have 2.5gb free on my system partition (windows and programs) and 80gb free on my games partition - it wont let me install. looking for a way to get around this now (adjusting windows temp paths didnt help)

yep, 2 more to go. that prevents alot of the spam guys that post just to sell something. I think the 1.12 patch is also stupid because now i have to wait for a bit before i can play.

Removed the Grappling Hook and the Zip Line from kits from "The Iron Gator" map.

UPDATE TO GRAPPLING HOOK AND ZIP LINE DESCRIPTION

GRAPPLING HOOK
The GRAPPLING HOOK is part of the Assault and Anti-tank kits. Throw it using the fire or alternate fire buttons. Press "E" to get on and off of the rope.
Use the direction keys to climb the rope. The rope will connect to any static object in the world, which means it will not work on terrain or vehicles. Any Assault or Anti-Tank kit can pick up any grappling hook, even those from other teams, as long as you do not already have one in your kit at the time.

ZIP LINE
The ZIP LINE is part of the Special Forces and Sniper kits. Use the fire button to shoot the line and use the alternate fire button to check if the target is a viable connection point or not. Once the line is in place, use "E" to get on. You will slide down the line automatically. Any Spec-Ops or Sniper kit can pick up any zip line, even those from the other team, as long as you do not already have one in your kit at the time.

So you can go from 1.00 to 1.12. It has all the changes and new content (Wake Island map) that we've already applied through several patches. I wouldn't mind if they had this patch and then an alternative one for 1.03 to 1.12 that was only a few megs or whatever. But I guess they want to keep things super simple by only having one version of the patch at the cost of making it a large download for everyone.

I ran in to the disk space issues as well. I run a pretty lean system as it is (Windows is just for games), so I had a hard time finding stuff to remove. Luckily, I saw Steam in my list of programs, and I don't think I've ever played any Steam game since I reformatted lost, so removing the 450MB that it had gave me just enough space.

For being so picky, you'd think the installer would clean up after itself. I noticed I had less disk space on C: (game is on D after I installed.. in fact, it went down after SF itself, then again after the patch. Silly company.
