Who has the Special Forces expansion?
We'll just close the other thread and start this new one, since I couldn't merge them successfully with a functioning poll...
Old thread: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...al-forces.html

Re: Who has the Special Forces expansion?
Thanks for posting. Wonder if you could add a "planning on getting within 2 weeks" option for those that may not have acquired it yet, but are definately going to.

Re: Who has the Special Forces expansion?
I picked it up (well, downloaded it) yesterday. Only after seeing that TG is hosting a server for it - otherwise I would not have purchased.
I only played some single player and it was aight, although the night vision is a pain (in that you always use it). Cant wait to play some real online battles with fellow TGers. |

Re: Who has the Special Forces expansion?
alright, i answered "no" to this poll but have in fact ordered it online this very day.
i know there have been approximately ten posts created about the new expansion, but this is the newest so i'll post my opinion here. the only reason i'm getting this is because TG has a server dedicated to SF at this time. if the community continues to be split, i wouldn't mind seeing certain nights vanilla, certain nights tactical mod, and certain nights SF. this would keep at least one server full instead of 28 in each. i'm also looking forward to the new weapons and maps, this is true. however, my one big complaint is this: the notion of Special Forces implies covertness, plain and simple. the idea of an "all seeing" commander who has artillery at his/her disposal might completely turn me off to the expansion if TG doesn't eliminate artillery at the very least, and quite possibly the UAV and Scan functions as well. i would still like to see a commander, but that commander would have to base his/her decisions on reports from the field and then act on those reports. snipers could be used to monitor troop concentrations and movements. and of course, luck would play a role, more so than in vanilla BF2. luck has always played a huge role in combat throughout history. and don't forget about those little things known as fire discipline and squad cohesion. like i said, this expansion could be great from what i've read...but the artillery leaves a bitter taste in my mouth before i've even installed the expansion... |

Re: Who has the Special Forces expansion?
we should implement a TG tactical mod-SF edition
is that possible?

Re: Who has the Special Forces expansion?
while i dislike EA/Dice's way of doing things, i do support SF- i just picked it up and am pleasantly suprised.
i know people are afraid of SF turning BF2 into a game more devoid of teamwork, but really i think the teamwork is strengthened. with the emphasis mostly on ground-pounding, i think it fits TG fine. and most of the the things we were afraid of aren't that bad at all. hooks and ziplines help to break up the linearity we see in popular maps, creating alternate routes. the one-man vehicles work well for quick reconnaisance. flashbangs and teargas can help give a well-coordinated assault squad the edge. and the new maps ain't half bad, either.
