Kunin's Back: Thoughts from a Noob

Hello everyone. I popped into the BF2 server for the first time this weekend and wanted to say thanks for everyone's good nature with a noob. I still working on getting fully functional (mic doesn't seem to work), but I told Apo I'd try to get myself playing by Christmas; I'd say I'm on schedule.

It was so much more fun playing as a team than schlepping around a pub server. I'm looking forward to learning the ropes and getting to know the game better.

I hope to see some old friends and make a bunch of new ones.

If anyone has any learning suggestions, let me know. I didn't see any "learning" squads setup when I was playing. It was very disorienting the first times on TG since not only was I not used to the teamwork, I didn't know the maps at all! I had played the demo for a month, getting used to the gameplay and then bought the game this past week.

If anyone's taking the lead on mods, let me know, I'd like to volunteer to help.

Thanks for everyone upholding the great TG reputation during the games I played (Damn some of you guys are good!).

Cheers.

Welcome to TG Kunin!

This is your new place to live!

There is not always a learning squad, but when you sees one you have to jump in quick

Duke and Asch have a Tactical Mod for BF2. Read more under the mod section.

And please read the rules and SOP's (it is in my sig)

Welcome Kunin.....just so you know, there is a tactical Minicamp tonight at 8 EST, I think ABRA has a thread on it, it will help oreintate you a little better. You might want to check out the threads me and JimmyTwoHand have on the TG-Irregulars also, if you are interested.

Once again, Welcome to TG.

Hehehe.. Don't be treating Kunin like a noob! Many of you may not remember him, but he is certainly old-school.

Kunin was responsible for the entire re-branding of Network 42 Tactical Gaming into the Tactical Gamer that we know and love today. He created our both our logo and our name.

It's great to see you back again, old friend!

Kunin, welcome back! I think you exited just before I joined, but alot of the familiar faces are still around.

I suggest reading up on the Tactics threads: lots of good map and tactical information there.

Next, to get up to speed, look at the awarded Squad Leaders thread:

http://www.tacticalgamer.com/tactica...ad-leader.html

and try to join one of those guy's squads. Five minutes with Bommando, Beatnik, or Wulfyn will do wonders.

As for mods, SgtDuke and Asch are working on Tactical Mod:

http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...h-8pm-est.html

Give them a shout!

Welcome back to the fold!

Re: Kunin's Back: Thoughts from a Noob

Thanks all for the kind words and pointers. It's great to have a little time to jump back in and enjoy some gaming. Thanks for the kind words Apo; you've done great things with this place since those days.

Good times were had by all in the old GR days. I don't think I have ever laughed harder than during some of those Friday night drunken brawl nights. I'll read up and try to make myself useful in BF2.

Anyone postulate why an otherwise working usb headset mic won't work in BF2? I can hear fine, but now mic in BF2. It works great in XP.

Re: Kunin's Back: Thoughts from a Noob

Kunin,
I believe you were in one of my squads the other night.

I had a problem with my mic. What I ended up doing was going to the options (I think) page, maybe the audio page, the page where you can test your mic. Yeah, anyways, I had to start speaking into my mic BEFORE I hit the test button. That did it for me.
