Question What Maps and Mods?

As I'm new to the game and while I'm waiting for my new computer to arrive, is there any specific maps/mods/patches I should download for playing the game online as well as SP? Thanks for any replies.

Re: What Maps and Mods?

welcome to your first and last gaming experience. for BF2 you need the game of course and you need the 1.12 patch installed, now if you want the SF experience you will need to install that first then the patch. To play on TG servers and most others you will have to install the 1.12 patch. Mod/Map wise i believe they just put a new map on server 1 so you will need totalmap pack 3 installed. We have our own Mod, but you dont need that unless you are gonna play on that server

another thing needed to play on our servers is to read all SOPs and Rules. Another thing is its always helpful to watch topgun, cuase you never wanna loose that lovin feelin.

welcome to TG enjoy and happy hunting

Thanks for that, I'm busy reading all the recommended posts at the moment, my new machine is due at the end of the month, but I have already bought BF2 and BF2 Special Forces.

Re: What Maps and Mods?

Welcome India 51A...TG is THE place for BF2. Nearly all of the pubbie servers are filled with players who care mostly about individual stats and medals. Not the case here. ( As you've seen, no doubt, by looking at the SOP's)

Nice looking rig you have coming your way. I'm pleased you didn't ask if it will run BF2 smoothly as it's a bit obvious you'll be running full tilt on max quality.

See you on the battlefield--PS don't get discouraged...we have many, many excellent players on board here and I'd caution you to prepare yourself for occaisional pwnage by them.

PS...If you don't already have one coming...get a mic!!

Thanks for that, well yes, I knew that BF2 needed a super machine, and as FPS are my favourite genre I decided that I would get one that is capable of playing BF2 with all bells and whistles.

I won't get discouraged, I die a lot on the ET servers, so that's nothing new to me, I just try to help my team mates by reviving and giving them health.

The Medusa 5.1 Surround Sound headset I bought has a mic attached plus 4 speakers in each ear! It's said to be a brilliant headset not only for hi-fi but for gaming too.

Re: What Maps and Mods?

Welcome. The guys have given you good advise except one. You got to get CoD 2 also. Nice rig.
Oh and another thing, there seems to be some kind of flu bug here at TG. If I am not mistaken I think it is called EvE. Watch out for that one.

Re: What Maps and Mods?

I do actually have a copy of C0D2 and quite like the game, the only problem I had with it was on the Omaha (I think!) beach landing. Once you get to the top of the cliffs the lag is horrendous even in SP for me, and this machine I have at the moment is no slouch. Perhaps I will re-install C0D2 on my new machine.

BTW, who in the heck is Eve?

Eve is a drug dealer...watch out, dont get too close, you will become addicted and spend lots of money. Sadly many people hear have been seduced and its hard trying to help them...they are still in the denial stage

Re: What Maps and Mods?

Hmm, I see. Reading a little bit about it from the link provided, it reminded me of an old game I used to play, and still have here in my games collection, Privateer 2: The Darkening. I could maybe be tempted into having a little peek at Eve in the near future.

Re: What Maps and Mods?

Well I dived right in, d/l the Eve client, paid my $19.95 started up, and when I got to the actual gameplay, nothing! A big black screen staring back at me. Evidently it's my Radeon 9100 IGP Graphics card that is the culprit, Eve doesn't like it, so it's a good job my new computer is due next week, I'm sure Eve will love that one.
