Re: Tactical Mod .8 Night - Sunday Night!
Ok , I wasn't sure what the deal was on the driving...Didn't mean to give the impression that I was complaining..I just thought I had heard otherwise. Thanks for the clarification. Thanks guys.
So yea..more tacmod nights please. (If you could add blinkers in the mod, I think that would be sweet..)

Re: Tactical Mod .8 Night - Sunday Night!
Concerning the AT rocket sniping... I agree with Lucky/Santa. You can see the AT rocket coming from forever away. If you're dumb enough to stay still and get waxed, that's your own fault.
And I've definitely been the guy that didn't move and gotten sniped with it a time or two. Damn my perseverance of trying to take him down before the rocket gets to me, THEN moving.

It didn't tick me off but it seems a little lame in that it's seemingly without tactic or squad play. On the other hand I should've thought to respawn as engineer and toss down a couple mines and been done with it. I suppose I'd have to call what was going on last night a bit over the line of our style. Maybe it'd be different if there was a squad tactic involved and not what seemed like a 'suicide' run. As for the AT rockets. I feel like it's ok to use them if you need to. If it were to become an exploit because it's better than what would irl be the preferred weapon in a given situation then it would be wrong. Rooftop ambush sounds like a decent tactic - especially if the plan was armor ambush originally. Can't ambush with sub MGs from the roof if infantry enters a kill zone.

Re: Tactical Mod .8 Night - Sunday Night!
I'm ashamed to say that I'm for using whatever and however and whenever to occasion a kill.
Oh, for sure, like the rest of you (no doubt), I've emptied a clip on the SAW at Robocop, only to have him back out of harms' way and blow my damnfool noggin off. At which point I've clawed the air and heaved epitaphs against the gods of fairness and realism.....or pistol attacks at far range vs M16... Oddly enough, though, I've also taken an inordinate amount of pleasure at getting a "paddle kill" from the defrib when using the medic kit....so much as I'd like to side on my high-horse about AT use being gamey, I simply can't. My only gripe right now is the number of sniper kits making an appearance in the mod. Don't care for that at all, but it's combat-able. Just not easy. And if the fight gets close in, then it becomes a weakness for them. All kits have their exploits/weaknesses. I doubt if things get hairy in an actual combat zone in real life whether folks have a compulsion to avoid triggering ambushes with banana peels or bashing in heads with entrenching tools. And I've been victim of the AT increased accuracy-and I've also skirted them. It's true that they seem a little too accurate, but that pales in comparison to the Larry Walker gun-it-in-from-right-field grenade throwing I've witnessed of late. Besides, as you've all pointed out, a crouch, or prone or sidestep is usually an option if you see it coming. |

Heh - actually, last night on the Hormuz (TacMod), I was sniping from the bridge by the gas-station over towards the docks... I killed you once santa, but then you got revived - and started shooting AT rockets at me. I was prone behind/beside a big rock by the bridge there... anyway, we were just far enough away so that each time you fired, I had time to slide over a foot or two behind the rock... I wasn't quick enough w/ the screencap key, but it was pretty neat to see three successive AT rounds silently zip past my face, exploding behind me somewhere! |

I think its an important distinction. Driving around doing figure 8's to run a squad down...now that's smacktardery IMO.

Re: Tactical Mod .8 Night - Sunday Night!
I've definitely taken a jeep and and just drove around like a maniac - as a distraction while my squad moves in from the other side of the CP... (doing donuts in the fields east of Farm on Zatar for example... )
Whenever there's someone in my path, you bet I run them right the hell over... before they can GP-30 my ass... ![]() |

Re: Tactical Mod .8 Night - Sunday Night!
As far as jeeps/buggies go, I've used it to patrol areas outside flags (especially on Zatar) and if someone's in my line of site, I'm definitely going to make an effort to take them down.
