Just signed up...how do I get started?
I registered on this forum but I don't know how to get hooked into your community. I have a few questions:
I went on to the TG server yesterday but all I found and could access was an unranked server. Do you have any ranked servers? How do I access the mod. server that you guys are talking about? I see you have squads for people new to the TG style and I 'd love to be a part of that. When I'm on the server, how do other TG members recognize me as a TG member? I don't have a tag. I'm not that good of a player and want to get better. This site's philosophy really suits me but I'd sure like to get with people who will teach me the ropes...how do i do that? Do I have to be a paying member to access the private servers? By the way, I've read all the "must read" posts and stickys. I'm ready to go. Thanks for any help getting me started and involved. |

Re: Just signed up...how do I get started?
Welcome to TG Ram. First off I' dlike to point you to our rules and sops, both are linked in my sig. Go ahead and read through those.
You also speak of the Irregulars (also linked in my sig). Feel free to browse our tactical wiki and then head on over to the Irregulars board and you'll see a thread there titled "Interested in Joining the Irregulars" go ahead and introduce yourself there and tell us a little about yourself. We'll most likely point you to another thread titled "Xfire Names" in that thread we ask some information from you such as kits you most commonly play, vehicles, if you have a nickname; so go ahead and post in that thread too. Then we'll go ahead and add you toour roster if your still interested. Also, we here at TG enjoy the benefits of not playing on ranked servers. We run a very friendly squad based and teamwork orientated group of servers so many of us don't have unlocks or anything. This is afterall, the best place to play anywhere. As for training, the Irregulars hold a minimum of 2 scheduled practices a month, in fact we're due for another one here coming up. So anytime you see any practice threads in the BF2 General Discussion board feel free to sign-up and join us. Again, welcome to Tactical Gamer, I'm sure you'll like it here. |

Quote:
1. Do you have any ranked servers? A. No, for several reasons. A big reason is we couldn't run all of the custom scripts we run. 2. How do I access the mod. server that you guys are talking about? A. Browse the BF2 server schedule: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...-schedule.html 3. When I'm on the server, how do other TG members recognize me as a TG member? A. By your mature and tactical playing style. Read up on the tag here: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...light=%7Ctg%7C 4. This site's philosophy really suits me but I'd sure like to get with people who will teach me the ropes...how do i do that? A. Jump onto one of the servers and look for either a LEARN TG or similarly named squad or feel free to join any squad lead by someone with a |TG| tag. Let them know you are new to TG and they'll teach you the ropes. 5. Do I have to be a paying member to access the private servers? A. Private servers, yes. 2 of the 3 BF2 servers are public and you do not have to be a Supporting Member (SM) to access them.

Ram make sure you read the TG primer and all the SOPs and rules for the games you are gonna be playing, they will answer any questions you may have and will help you enjoy your stay on the servers

To many people just join and dont read those, i think ive read them atleast 5 times since ive been here, always brings tears to my eyes.

Re: Just signed up...how do I get started?
I'm gonna jump on the welcome wagon, too!
Hello, there! This will probably be the last place you'll ever want to play BF2! We have a lot of Grade A players here that are willing to teach you lots, so don't be scared to ask lots of questions! I hope you have a mic, 'cause they'll be make fun of you if you don't say anything! Just kidding about the meaness part... or am I? Anyways, I'd say about 85-90% of the people here do use the VoIP, so you can really get some fun teamwork in. Even if you don't, you can make make like the quiet ones and have fun with the com-rose. You'll fit in fine if you bring a mature, fun-loving attitude with you to the battlefield. One more tip: Watch out for Santa. Always.

Buy a mic Penguin!
Good to have you aboard Ramma. I think you were in our squad last night on Zatar. I know you did fairly well at following orders. I couldn't really tell since Penguin and I were in the chopper for most of the map. But then our side(MEC) capped all flags and was just boring at the end. |

Re: Just signed up...how do I get started?
Yeah...I think I was in your squad. I stunk it up pretty badly. It was my first night in a TG squad and WOW....quite an adjustment. E-male, our SL, had to tell me a couple of times to sit back....even for someone like myself who isn't all that aggressive and doesn't care about points, it was an adjustment. But a welcome one. E-male was great about it too. I was a nervous wreck....first time I was ever "spent" after playing BF2 cuz I just felt I wasn't carrying my share of the load.
If there is anyone who would be willing to meet up with me tonite on the public server and be my SL I'd really appreciate it. I have to get use to this and boy I can see where it helps to have a good SL. I think I'll have a couple of good ales first. |

I hear what you're saying about being 'spent' after playing. I had the exact same experience when I first started playing here. And still do, if I ever play medic in certain squads... ![]() Oh, and welcome to TG. ![]()
