Re: How do you start BF2?

I click on the link in the top left corner of my desktop to start BF2. Unless I want windowed-mode (for testing), then I click the link just to the right of the first one.

The only time my DVD leaves the tray is when I need to burn a DVD. If it bothered me enough, I would use a mini-image.

Re: How do you start BF2?

I've got a trial version of "Gamedrive" software. It doesn't expire, but only lets you have 3 drives and 5 images. It works just fine as long as the game is on a CD. It won't make images of DVD's though, so my Oblivion disc sits in the drive all day while BF2 is in the case.

How good is Deamon Tools? I installed it once on another computer and then uninstalled it (I don't really remember why). I just remember that it was kinda hard to get off. It was one of those programs that likes to start itself at boot up and you always have to shut it down manually and it didn't like being uninstalled.

Same here. I never have to worry about scratching my disc or changing dvds in and out. It's all set in DT4 and never have to worry about it. I'm surprised more people don't do it. Maybe people don't know.

Well, you can get no DVD hacks for Oblivion which work fine because you play the game offline and there's no punkbuster to worry about. Forget about messing with discs and images for that. BF2 needs an image because a no DVD hack would be picked up my punkbuster..

Daemon Tools emulates an optical drive.. You get a new drive in My Computer that you can browse and stuff.. You mount the disc image, then you can go browse the disc image just like it were a real disc. So, I don't see what's so bad about having it start up all the time.. It's never interfered with my BF2 playing and is only using 1204K of memory right now - software for my Razer mouse uses more as does Teamspeak. No spyware, malware, nagging crap either.. But, there is an "autostart" option that you can turn off so that it won't automatically start.

Most of the mini-images you find are made for the older version of daemon tools - 3.47 I think - and won't work with the newer versions.

Re: How do you start BF2?

The only thing that delayed my use of DT was lack of support for XP64. That's been addressed so my optical media can now stay safely in their sleeves.

Ah, so Daemon tools only mounts the image as a virtual drive, but doesn't make an image? I'd need a program to make the images then, or download them, I guess. *Shifty Eyes* Any good suggestions for a free program (I know that there are programs that you can get for free, but that's not what I'm talking about) that makes CD/DVD images? I've got the ultra cheap OEM version of Nero that came with my DVD burner, but it won't make regular images. It has its own format (.nrg).

Re: How do you start BF2?

You might be able to download updates for your version of Nero that lets it make real images that Daemon Tools will mount.

I went and found out that Nero apparently does support Nero's disc images. So I'll be removing my current emulation software and replacing it with Daemon Tools tonight. I also tried one of those no-DVD patches for Oblivion. It worked without a hitch. Now maybe I'll be able to reclaim my desk space from the pile of CD's that currently reside there.

One of these correct? I guess #3 is the latest rev?

What's the deal with "get an anti-blacklisting tool"??

Re: How do you start BF2?

i am reading this post, why well not sure but I used to have a few of my programs listed as ISO's and it was creating a virtual drive. I have Alcohol 120% and would like to know the proper method to make an image of Battlefield 2 and be able to mount it using a virtual drive. I am not familiar with this process and any directions or assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks
