Exclamation Important announcement for proposed scrim 6/17/06

As most of you know I proposed a scrim of the old school vs new school squads. Due to my inexperience in handling and organizing one of these events there were some unforeseen turn of events which has put me into a very awkward position. In my efforts to figure out how maps are decided I sent PM's for advice and everything I got in response pointed in the same direction. A recommendation was put forth to try something new by using the Euro Force maps in this proposed scrim. The idea was so no team would have an advantage since they are relatively new and haven't been played much by anyone. This poll developed a split in the community of which maps to use. As I continued to try and get some help the only answer I got was that I had to make this decision on my own. After many hours of going back and forth trying to figure out how I could come up with the best possible solution to this problem I decided that there was not a best solution.

So I have decided in the best interest for the Tactical Gamer BF2 community to use the Euro force maps for this scrim on June 17th. Since we are going to use the EF maps I am going to cancel the new school vs old school concept. The main reasons I have decided to use these maps are as follows.

1- We probably wouldn't be able to fill a full 64 player scrim due to the recent lack of participation from the more established squads in the community. Many have moved on to other games and no longer play BF2

2- Tactical Gamer will be fully supporting the EF and Armored Fury boosters once AF is released.

I figured this is the best decision for the overall BF2 community. I hope this scrim develops some interest in these boosters and further strengthens the Tactical Gamer BF2 server.

To those that might be left out due to their financial situation or there own "moral"stance not to purchase these boosters please accept my apologies but I feel this is the best decision. However I don't feel that this is the best decision for a top quality scrim. I ask that anyone who has this booster or has any interest in these boosters to try and do your best to attend.

I don't think I am the most qualified person to make this choice but I started the project and need to see it through so if you have any comments, complaints or advice please feel free to PM me or post them here. I will post the sign up thread on June 3 that will give us 2 weeks till the scrim. The proposed time will be 5pm EDT for roll call and 6pm EDT scrim time.

Thanks
Drizzid

Sounds good to me, considering EF is going to be full time on server #1 anyway.

Are we just going to randomly pick teams?

I will try and stack the teams appropriately. If there are two squads of the 7th that sign up I will put one squad on each side. Try and place equal number of inhouse squads on each side. That's the best I can come up with unless we have CO's pick teams or something like that.

Oh God, I was always last to be picked...

Or, near to last, there was always that other guy... Oh dear...

I'm not buying boosters. (Don't bother starting a booster pro con argument - I wont bite - use search)

I didn't ask for your reasons and I respect your choice either way. I agree that this isn't a booster pro/con thread. It's an announcement on a decision I had to make right or wrong.

Re: Important announcement for proposed scrim 6/17/06

Hey Driz,

I'm glad that you are seeing it through!! Should be a fun scrim.

I voted against using the EF maps, but since a decision has been made (kudos on that) I'm 100% behind it.

I'm planning on being there.

Cheers.
