suggestion for policing the server

Since POE came out we've seen a lot of pubbies around, half of which dont follow any orders. They make their lil 1 man squads so that they dont get kicked, or never follow orders or give orders, but we all know they arent working as a team or will ever work as a team no matter how much they are warned. One to two admins on at one time cannot possibly handle the amount of people that need to be kicked at the moment. Theres enough crap going on in the server that i feel like im pub raiding instead of playing on a TG server. So heres my suggestion to take the pressure off the admins and get a bit more control over the chaos.

10-15 new "temp" admins. These pseudo admins could just have the privledge of having BF2CC available to them to kick people, and if the admins feel they are responsible enough, could also have the ban hammer. These guys wouldnt even really need access to the admin forum and wouldnt need to be involved in whatever discussions go on in there. We just need a LOT more bodies out there kicking people. I really think that if at any time we have at least 4 admins on each team, and if we get a bit more strict with the people that are obviously not going to be TGers, that wed have a much better time on our server. We dont need to worry about kicking so many people that the population gets skimpy, because first of all its dentrimental to the TG way (unless we're promoting 1 man squads), and secondly we're popular enough to be able to handle it.

Im not entirely certain, but i think the the PCS guys got a few temp admins and apparently had great success with it. BF2 could really use this imo, especcialy now with all the random pubbies joining up.

Re: suggestion for policing the server

We are currently working on adding admins.

However, it should be noted that all that is needed to get an admin's attention is to either hop on TS or put something in text chat to let the admins know there is a problem. I am seeing very little of either.

Re: suggestion for policing the server

I think we have to talk about when it's wise to kick. For example going commander and kicking pub squadleaders that dont follow orders is senseless imo. You better ask good squadleaders to invite them over.

When you squadlead and you got four squadmembers listening and one ignoring it's time for a kick.
Same for bunnyhopping.

We got a lot of pubbies that will have to adjust a playing style that they are used to for about a year. If we want them to become tgers we need to educate them by having them in our squad. Educating is much better then kicking imo, because you will be kicking players that just dont know any better.
You will be kicking a lot of players that could become regulars.

Instead of putting our energy in kicking I think it's much wiser to put that same energy in educating (passively by just leading squads).

Kicking is ok, but be sensible about it. Once we grow enough to have a server full of Tgers the pubbies cant join anymore (and it's time for the new server).

I second that, we need to be more diligent in reporting gamplay distrupting players on TS.

PowerSmoker

Is`nt everyone being contstantly being educated as everytime you connect the basic TG sever rules are there to be read and assimilated.
Face it some guys just are`nt going to buy into the TG way and no amount of handholding is going to change that.

Tough playing w/ pubbies. It's an adjustment for the time being. I'm eating my words about going ranked and suggesting that it might be easily managed in a thread I started a few weeks ago. Thanks again to all the admins and everyone else working hard to keep the POE server clean.

Re: suggestion for policing the server

here here! i second this wholeheartedly. Last night me and pheonix were flying a jet and this one guy in his one man squad decides oh im just gonna hop in and slpit up these two guys that are in the same squad waiting for this plane to spawn. I didnt say anything at first, but after several times of doing this, i repeatedly asked him if he wanted to fly please join the air squad i had. He ignored. But then when me and pheonix landed to repair he started shooting up our ride...so...bye bye.

Like iron claw said, some people just dont give a crap.

EDIT - +rep...apparently i gotta spread the love before givin the snail lovin to Santa again

I think we can do a lot without admin intervention:

Please do your best for the community and spread the teamwork among all of the newcomers. We are not going to force people to spread between the squads, but I guarantee it will improve the quality of play.

When I see a bunch of small squads, I create a squad called TEAMWORK, TACTICAL or VOIP and invite any new players in small squads to try to consolidate. It seems to work very well.
From this thread.

That said, we are now in the process of adding more admins.

Bom's right, there is a lot you can do before going to the admins. Try and eduicate them about teamwork or mabey hop into a one man pubbie squad and tell them about TG.

Re: suggestion for policing the server

You can use the words "... otherwise you are breaking the rules and one of the admins might kick you" in your discussion with the offending player if you want to get your point across in a diplomatic fashion. Then if they don't listen, report them to us for removal.

Re: suggestion for policing the server

I find simply mentioning the potential problem player's name on TS, not so much for an immedate kick, but will at least bring that player to other TGer's attention is very useful.

Re: suggestion for policing the server

Please also remember that we rely on you guys to point out players who, while they may not be TKing or behaving immaturely, are not working together as a team or squad. They can and should be reported to an admin so we can remove them to make space for other, teamwork oriented players.

Re: suggestion for policing the server

more admins ... good

also a good idea is to log onto TS before loading the game so you are ready to talk to admins if needed (and key bind channel changing)

also I think we need to be a bit more disciplined with channel selection in TS, admins are in the root channel for BF and players should be in the server channel...right ?

and like people say education then contact an admin

its not all bad though, there are plenty of new regulars to POE2 server now
