Battlefield Pirates 2 - Release 2 map preview
Whazzup TGs...
If you hadnt seen on TotalBF2 or elsewhere, I put out a video on YouTube recently showing off the 16 or so maps we have in store for our second release of Battlefield Pirates 2. The vid can be found here:

Minimaps for each can be reviewed on this thread:

Some of you guys helped participate in a pre-release server stress test that was a huge help for the dev team last year. If there is interest in checking out the latest goodies we've created, then come hunt me down. [I think Mantis still has my xfire etc]. Ive got a beta build together and a test server waiting on some players...
Release 1 was pretty infantry focused, but this time around the name of the game is teamwork... We've got some sprawling naval battles now with a much wider array of ships to sail. You'll have to work together to man the cannons, repair the decks and keep support ships handy for stocking supplies and fresh crewmen. Many of our maps now support Capture the Flag, which can be freely mixed in rotation with Conquest and Naval DM maps. And if you watch about 5min into that video, you'll see some of the aircraft we salty dogs have stitched together from shipwreck remains (including a flying beer powered keg... ah reminds me of undergrad).
Anyways, at least check out the video and leave some feedback - esp if you like what you see.

Re: Battlefield Pirates 2 - Release 2 map preview
We should put together another Pirates night when this release comes out. The last one hosted by LuckyShot and the late great 5th was a blast.

Pirate night might just get Mosely to pop back in. Lets find a way to do it up.
I'll go get the latest pack. PM me if you find a server out there thats populated. : )
at least in pirates after hitting a guy with 6 bullets, I understand when they don't die.

Re: Battlefield Pirates 2 - Release 2 map preview
Insider update - we currently have five gamemodes in the works for R2. Four of which can freely be mixed on the server to keep things interesting. [You do not have to stop and restart the game server to switch from Conquest to Zombie for example - just put the zombie maps right in rotation]. Here's what we got:
Conquest - Standard action, where flags are worth a set # of points and these points drive a ticket bleed. Round ends when the losing team has no tickets left.
Capture the Flag - Each team must defend its home flag from being stolen while capturing the enemies flag and returning home with it. First team to 3 flags returned wins the round.
Armada - Both teams will be given massive fleets of the boats shown in the pic above. A flag will randomly be positioned out to sea. The team who can dominate on the water in that area will slowly raise the flag. Once its up, the other team will be charged a severe ticket loss and the flag will respawn elsewhere.
Zombie - New spin on running and gunning, then gunning and running. Forget the teams! All players will start out as peglegs except for one randomly chosen player who starts out as the zombie. Every player killed by a zombie is turned into a zombie himself and the round ends when all pegs have been converted. Scoring is based on the # of enemies, so those first few zombies will earn major pts for each pegleg caught... but by rounds end, the last surviving peglegs will be racking up the score facing a zombie onslaught.
Also available as a separate mini-mod... We have gotten permission from Sir Elxx and the Battleracer team to enable Rally circuit racing using our maps and boats. We're working on pimping out those little Gnat rowers with the nasty front cannons... but honestly, its been a lot more fun taking the new dolphins and sharks for a spin given that you can jump over piers or submerge below obstacles with them. Thats right - I said dolphins... we're pirates, we can get away with almost anything. LOL

If you are NOT a) generally squeamish when it comes to the violation of personal space for tropical avian species, or b) a card carrying member of PETA - you might crack a smile from our latest news piece and attached YouTube video:

Re: Battlefield Pirates 2 - Release 2 map preview
I've put together a new YouTube channel that has all of the official BFP2 videos collected in one spot. You can find it here: http://www.youtube.com/1l2Hawk
All of the live action shots of the various gamemodes are actually of TG members who came and helped us with a server stress test. Here are the Tactical Gamer related videos:
Conquest mode:

Capture the Flag mode:

Zombie mode:

In other news, the mod development has been finalized and we're now just taking a rusty cutlass to a few features that arent quite ready. Since the testing session, we have gotten the Armada mode wrapped up and have enabled stats collection.
We will be putting out a news story shortly, but here's a sneak peak. http://www.bfpirates.com/?Page=Stats Click on a name to see more information. We also now support dynamic signatures, such as mine here:

If you havent been following the recent news over at http://www.bfpirates.com...
Soundtrack for R2 Released
We recently put out the soundtrack to Yarr2. Includes 17 piratey tracks that play when the various maps are loading up. Can be downloaded here:

Stats system finished
We also finished development of the stats system I was alluding to earlier. Includes custom end of round stats for our own equipment, an online stats site where you can compare your performance to others, a ranking system (no unlocks) and even our own dynamic stat sigs which update in real-time.

For more information, here's the link to the news story about it: http://www.bfpirates.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2065
Note that we are sharing our stats system with other mods, so expect to see something similar from xww2 and others coming soon...
