    Project Reality - Kabul Desert

    Hello, TG!

I've recently begun work on a large desert/urban insurgency map set in Afghanistan, in an area west of the City of Kabul.

    Area Images © Google 2009

    Planned Roadways

I've started work on the terrain, and the rough draft of the northern mountains is complete. I've also built the Blufor Main Base (operating under the assumption that the Blufor team will be US Army) and the main road. Next project is doing the wadis on the south side of the map and the Taliban Main Base.

    Vehicle Loadout/Features

    Main Base:
    x1 UH-60 Blackhawk
    x1 AH-6J Littlebird (Miniguns) + (Hydra Pods?)
    x4 HMMVW, Standard
    x1 HMMVW, Open-Back (x2?)
    x1 Logistics Truck
    Command Station
    Repair Station
    x2 Landing Pad

    FOB:
    x1 Logistics Truck
    x2 HMMVW, Standard
    x1 Landing Pad
    x1 (Prebuilt, Spawnable, Destroyable Firebase?)

    Insurgent Main:
    x8 Motorbike
    x4 Technical
    x1 Bombcar

    Various other insurgent vehicles scattered.

All landing pads will repair helicopters, giving the Scoutbird an alternative place to land for a quick fix.

Thanks to |TG-23rd| Fighter for the original map idea.

Don't have beach-party HMMWVs. They were phased out for a very good reason.

Looks great! Nice work! The map looks cool with a mix of urban, desert and a bit of mountain combat zones.

What I really need, though, is someone who can do some minor modeling. I'm eventually going to need a few custom statics, mostly for the cave system I have planned, and some other simple things like that which I'm fairly sure are beyond my capabilities.

I've always wondered about the insurgency maps, do you have the option to do different layers with different vehicle loadouts like you can with AAS?
Just because everyone does something does not mean that it is right to do.

My only suggestion would be to have the AH-6J spawn at the FOB so the US does not get to use the asset unless they defend the FOB. It would also give the Taliban a reason to assualt the FOB.

Re: Project Reality - Kabul Desert

May I suggest instead of the Little Bird with Miniguns, two Hueys with a Gau on either the left or right side, or Heavy Machine gun on either the left or right side?

Possibly leaving out the BH? Maybe only one Huey with a heavy gun on either side.

Making this map more convoy intensive.

I understand this map is larger than Karbala, and maybe the Little Bird with hydra's would be the only attack bird.

maybe upping the bomb car layout to x2 or x3, no big red.

Looks promising, and back in late 2002 fall of 2003 I tried to implement calling the beer drinking game Kabul rather than Beirut, I was tired of getting bombed like Beirut and wanted to get bombed like Kabul.

May I suggest you use the Marine Corps as the BluFor? They are predominatlely in Afghanistan. Seems more realistic in current situation. JUST A SUGGESTION.

I like the ideas. The USMC + Huey w/ the Gau sounds nice, but I'd need someone with vehicle editing skillz to make that one happen. If if did, there would be only one, no blackhawk, and a Little Bird with hydra pods.

With some suggestions I've taken lately, some revisions on the equipment layouts.

    Main Base, USMC Variant:
    x1 UH-1 Iroquois w/ GAU
    x1 UH-1 Iroquois Attack Variant w/Hydrapods [OR] AH-6J Littlebird
    x6 HMMVW, Standard
    x2 HMMVW, Open-Back
    x1 Logistics Truck
    Command Station
    Repair Station
    x2 Landing Pad

    FOB:
    x1 Logistics Truck
    x2 HMMVW, Standard
    x1 Landing Pad
    x1 (Prebuilt, Spawnable, Destroyable Firebase?)

    Insurgent Main:
    x8 Motorbike
    x4 Technical
    x4 Bombcar

Have a temp rally and the people who spawn can build a firebase from the two crates if one is needed.

May I suggest you utilize TALIBAN instead of INS? INS cannot set rallies. Makes maps like Fallujah... not very playable, IMO.

    Taliban would make sense anyway
