Well, it's just that there arn't many buildings that represent the continental U.S.

So it would have to be like a small military base or something...maybe I can pull together a few things but it doesn't seem like a bad idea...

Can anyone build models, maybe make some "American" buildings?
Maybe I can try and dabble in learning to make models.

You need to use Maya, 3d Studio Max or anything else that can do that type of modeling.

So, it doesn't look like I'll be dabbling in modeling anytime soon....

We really need a dedicated forum, Apophis?

Just looking at some heightmap data, heres some ready made data that can be imported into Terragen and then exported to the BF2editors level RAW file.
    http://edc.usgs.gov/geodata/examples.html

Keep in mind map sizes. For example a 256 map with actually be 257x257. Read this here is you want more information: http://www.planetbattlefield.com/bf2...ingheightmaps/

Sadly these images cannot be used but the data may be available somewhere
    http://edcdaac.usgs.gov/gtopo30/w020n90_img.asp
They can't be used as they are rendered hightmaps(or DEM).

Anyone able to download/find the max tools yet? I found this link that apparently has them http://www.doomlab.com/index.php but I can't get the links to work.

It isn't easy, that's for sure, but at least you can try it out for free with GMAX.

Ragged, I think you need 3d Max before you get and use those tools.

I have 3d MAX and I'm chompin at the bit to try my hand at importing some models.

I'd like to have better access to thier shaders though. All the fx files are already compiled and I haven't quite figured out how to dissassemble them yet.

There should be a rotate button under all the drop down menus, click it and then click the object (or vice versa) and then a bunch of blue red and green circles should appear around the object.

Click the red one and move your mouse, it should rotate the object.

...I'm at work now, so that is off the top of my head, I'll make corrections when I get home if I am wrong.

Also, check the link I posted for the tutorials, that's all you'll really need to get started.

What are some of your plans and ideas for those of us that are making maps? I'm thinking about making a invasion of China using USMC...I don't have any specifics as to what the landscape will be, beach or otherwise.
I'm thinking about a campaign type setting in Taiwan. Having a rough time getting my test maps to run though. They get to the loading objects stage and then the game abends. I must be missing something still.

EDIT: Actually the game is abending a 95% loaded... not the objects portion. Is there a client error log somewhere I am missing?

Are you moving the camera around? When you get far away from buildings they disappear at a certain distance.

Download the tutorials that I posted, they tell you all about placing buildings and all the spawn/control points.
