Got this working properly yesterday, will be doing a write up on it, hopefully will start on the weekend

What do you get when you take this

Put import the data into here

And get the data rendered here

See where I was facing from on the original Satellite data.

However with all this achievement, I'm getting floating trees in my map

What program did you use to do that. I visited Bermuda earlier this summer and the terrain their was really cool. I would love to be able to recreate the terrain to be used in a map.

You load the satellite data into a program called 3dem and then export your selection to a TER file (terragen) Load the file into terragen, the terrain map appear flat, so go into the modify button and make sure that the Terrain Height (units) is between say 0 and 50. Export the heightmap to overwrite the RAW specific RAW files in your BF2 map pack and there you go.

Theres a few other things you need to be aware of, the size of the export from Terrgaen needs to be the size of your map +1 i.e. 256x257 map is 257x257. Export should be Intel Byte order.

As for the location of the satellite data, this is my fav at the moment http://data.geocomm.com/dem/demdownload.html You need to register there before download.

I would like to test to copy an actual photo to see if I can get close, but its finding the time at the moment.
